Posigian 1

February 21st - French 4/4AC

Objectives :
Students will be able to identify the “e” muet in poems and everyday language
and know when they are pronounced.

Rationale :
While I could spend a long while on the topic of maternal mortality, I think it is
starting to depress some students, although it is a reality of life. In addition, we
really need to keep working our way through the book, as much as I hate to say
that. After two snow days and three days lost to a film; we have lost a lot of time
and I am hoping to make a little more progress and try to put this chapter of the
book to an end. I think a phonetic lesson on the “silent e” is useful for a lesson on
poetry as those “e”s come into play in terms of the syllable count. I also want to
try doing a lesson around a text that isn’t merely for the sake of comprehension
at first, and spend some time focusing on the language and its sounds before we
get into comprehension. I also think I may have students work in threes and each
commit a stanza to memory and recite it later.

Standards :
1.2 Interpretive Communication
Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of
topics.

3.1 Knowledge
Students reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through the
world language.

Projector, Whiteboard, Markers, PowerPoint
