13 CHICKEN INDUSTRY PERFORMANCE REPORT CHICKEN INDUSTRY PERFORMANCE REPORT i
EXPLANATORY NOTES
The Chicken Industry Performance Report presents the industry situation in
terms of inventory by type of chicken and age classification; volume of production;
DOC (live) and chicken meat imports; and monthly average prices at farmgate,
wholesale and retail levels.
The Livestock and Poultry data system of the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics
(BAS) is supported by two (2) major surveys namely:
1) The Backyard Livestock and Poultry Survey (BLPS) covers one (1)
replicate sample of the Palay and Corn Production Survey (PCPS)
consisting of 9,700 sample households in 673 sample barangays
nationwide; and,
2) The Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS) covering about 554
sample layer farms and 856 broiler commercial farms and contract
growers. Commercial poultry farms are those farms with a population of at
least 1,000 broilers, 500 layers or a combination of 100 broilers and 100
layers.
Both surveys for chicken are simultaneously conducted every quarter in all
provinces.

EXPLANATORY NOTES
The Chicken Industry Performance Report presents the industry situation in
terms of inventory by type of chicken and age classification; volume of production;
DOC (live) and chicken meat imports; and monthly average prices at farmgate,
wholesale and retail levels.
The Livestock and Poultry data system of the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics
(BAS) is supported by two (2) major surveys namely:
1) The Backyard Livestock and Poultry Survey (BLPS) covers one (1)
replicate sample of the Palay and Corn Production Survey (PCPS)
consisting of 9,700 sample households in 673 sample barangays
nationwide; and,
2) The Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS) covering about 554
sample layer farms and 856 broiler commercial farms and contract
growers. Commercial poultry farms are those farms with a population of at
least 1,000 broilers, 500 layers or a combination of 100 broilers and 100
layers.
Both surveys for chicken are simultaneously conducted every quarter in all
provinces.
