The January Bible Study has been extended through the first Sunday in
February. All that attended have enjoyed delving in the messages from
1, 2, 3 John and now look forward to the letter of Jude. Come join us.
The Prayer Garden looks fabulous! Thank you to all that helped with the
planning and construction and a big THANK YOU to all that helped
financially. Gary Garner and Lindsey Stephens plan on building a garden
bench in the near future and plans are to add a bird bath and wind
chimes. Hopefully, all will enjoy having this place of peace and solitude
to admire its beauty and spend time with the Lord.
A very special lady had a very special birthday! Cynthia Mitchell was
treated to a surprise birthday party where friends and family truly sur-
prised her big time. Happy Birthday Cynthia.
While Brad and Cynthia were out partying, Tharel Shirah and his lovely
wife Pam came back to Alpine and Tharel delivered a wonderful mes-
sage from 2 Timothy:4…”Come Before Winter”. Always wonderful to
have you two.
What an unusual winter we are having in Alabama. We got to enjoy the
beauty of the snow again. But, we are also seeing many, many cases of
flu and respiratory ailments. Prayers are going up for all those suffering
from this epidemic and also to protect everyone else from getting sick.

arrival of their grandson, Luke. He weighed
7 lbs., 11 oz. and was 21 inches long. Con-
Scholarship Tablescapes
This annual event has become one of Alpine’s favorites.
Beautifully decorated tables, delicious food and desserts, awe-
some entertainment and thought provoking speakers all to ben-
efit the Alpine Scholarship Fund which helps our youth attend
the college/trade school of their choice. This year promises to
be better than ever with Gary Furr, Vestavia Hills Baptist
Church, demonstrating his musical talents, Joylyn Boggs shar-
ing how her scholarship helped in obtaining her present job with
RISE Center at the University of Alabama, and Melissa Dyer
sharing her career, goals and observations in the field of educa-
tion. Make certain you join us on Saturday, February 10 at
6 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets are only $10 per plate and
can be paid in advance or paid at the door. Donations are al-
ways appreciated. Feel welcome to invite family, friends,
neighbors and acquaintances. A signup sheet will be available
at the church so pick out a spot at one of the ten tables and
come enjoy a special Valentine treat—the more that come, the
more we can add to our Scholarship Fund!

Alpine Baptist is very fortunate to have
ordained a new Deacon, Suzanne Kelley, on
January 14. Suzanne has been a member at Alpine for a number of
years and has proven to be a true leader and believer. Thank you
Suzanne for your commitment and may the Lord continue to bless you.

We are all saddened to hear of the death of Ken Flowers. Ken was a member
of our community and recently retired as Talladega County Chief Deputy. Ken’s

prayers go out to this family...Ken was loved and respected by all.
