Reserves Calculation Specification file

Block reserves are calculated according to the parameters in a reserves calculation specification file (.res). The specification file contains the
following information:

 Classification variable names.

 Material (fraction field) variable names and types.
 Product codes and associated conditions.
 Density variable name.
 Default density value.
 Mined (or fillpc) field name.
 Grade variable names, types, range and missing value treatment.
 Number of decimal places to be used.
 Grade cut-off variable name and cut-off values.
 Region (triangulation) and group names.
 Block selection information.

Refer to Appendix A for an example.

Note:

Be aware of blocks with default construction values, as these are ignored when calculating grade. The default construction values are
copied to Whittle without change and you may therefore decide to use a script file (see Manipulation) to set these default values to a
suitable value, e.g. a background grade value.

Dump file
Once the reserves have been calculated, the results are sent to a dump file. This file has the same name as the reserves calculation specification
file, with the file extension .dmp or .csv.

The reserves dump file has a header block with information on the columns contained in the file, followed by the columns of reserves data. The
output columns are always a subset of the following list:

source
group
region
breakdown variable 1
breakdown variable 2
breakdown variable 3
material
product
cutoff
grade 1
grade volume 1
grade mass 1
grade minimum 1
grade maximum 1
'
'
'
grade 15
grade volume 15
grade mass 15
grade minimum 15
grade maximum 15
total volume
total mass

An example is provided in Appendix A. The information in the dump file is, in turn, used by the report creation options.

Report Specification file

A report specification file (.tab) is used to handle report creation. An example of a report specification file is also included in Appendix A.

Report file
Both the dump file and the report specification file are used to create the report. The resulting report is displayed in the Report Window and
stored with a nominated file name and the extension .rep.

Advanced Reserves Editor

Calculate Reserves
The Advanced Reserves Editor option combines the functionality of both the simple and advanced reserving methods. Include with this new
interface is the ability to:

1. display 'real time' polygonal reserves against a block model.

2. create and edit the polygons and view the changes to grade and tonnage on screen as the points are moved.

3. create volumes to reserve through the use of primitives.

4. output block model reserve reports directly to Excel spreadsheets.

Note:

Points 1 and 2 refer to the optional Interactive Polygonal Reserver. Please contact your local Maptek office for more information.

This option utilises the Corporate Standards settings. For more information regarding the functionality of Corporate Standards, please refer to
the Corporate Standards section.

The Corporate Standards icon will only be displayed on panels if the VULCAN_CORPORATE environment variable was defined during the
installation of Version 8.0.

Instructions:
 Select Block menu
 Select Advanced Reserves submenu
 Select Advanced Reserves Editor option

Once selected, the Advanced Reserves Editor interface is displayed.

The Advanced Reserves Editor interface is separated into the following sections:

 Design
This section allows you to open or create a reserves specification file. Block reserves are calculated according to the parameters
specified within this file.

The specification file contains the following information:

 Classification variable names.

 Material variable names and types.
 Product codes and conditions.
 Density variable name.
 Grade variable names, types, range and missing value treatment.
 Grade cutoff variable name and cutoff values.
 Regions and group names.
 Block selection information.

Once the reserves have been calculated, the results will be sent to the dump file specified through the Save and Run section.

 Variables
This section allows you to specify the variables that are to be used when calculating the reserves. Each variable will be placed (as a
column) within the specified reserves dump file.

 Regions
This section allows you to control the area of interest for your reserves calculations. This is achieved by using one or more of the
following region selection methods:

 By polygons.
 By centrelines.
 By triangulations.

 Block Selection
This section allows you to define the selection criteria for selecting blocks from the block model for the calculation of the reserves.

The selection information is sent to the dump file as part of the header in the following form:

*
*BLOCK_SELECTION n
*
*ORE_TYPE=WASTE
*Condition:cu_ivd gt 0.15
*Extent lower X:31200.0, Y:6050.0, Z:230.0
*Extent upper X:31500.0, Y:6050.0, Z:580.0
*Proportional cell evaluation
*

where n refers to the number of lines of block selection information to follow. This is written to the dump file for later inclusion in
reports created using it.

 Save and Run

This section allows you to calculate the block reserves based on the currently open reserves specification file and block model. The
results will be stored within the nominated dump file.

 Report
This section allows you to define the appearance and contents of the resulting reserves report.

 Save and Report

This section allows you to generate a report file using the open report template file and a nominated dump file.

The Advanced Reserves Editor interface needs to be completed in the following order:

Breakdown Fields

Note:

Prior to reporting, set the number of decimals (through the Columns section) to be the same value as entered here. If this is not done,
then there may be slight differences in the calculated reserves.

Classification fields/Material type by Fractions

These fields allow the specification of a breakdown variable so that reserves can be broken down according to fields, such as GEOLOGY or
ORE_TYPE. Up to 20 classification and fraction fields can be specified.

For example, GEOLOGY could be a field in the block model with the values: TQ1, TQ2, TQ3. Each of these different geologies could form the basis
for a breakdown of the reserves, with grades reported for each of the three geological types.

A breakdown variable may be of data type 'Name', 'Byte', 'Short' or 'Integer' but not of type 'Float' or 'Double'. Refer to the Addition
Parameters option (under the Block > Transfer submenu) for an explanation on data types. If the breakdown variable is of data type 'Name',
then it is left justified in the dump file, otherwise it is right justified.

Some block models have a number of fields that define the fraction of each material type. For example, two fields FORE and FWST might contain
the fraction (0.0 to 1.0) of ORE and WASTE in each block respectively.

The reserves for material ORE are calculated based on the fraction of the volume (for each block) specified in the FORE field, and the reserves
for material WASTE would be calculated using the fraction of the volume (for each block) specified in the FWST field. These fields can therefore
be used to classify reserves according to material type. The fields can be manually entered or selected from a list.

Classifying reserves according to material type will also be affected by the use of the "mined out" field. If a block has been mined out, then
the volume is adjusted correspondingly before the fraction field value is applied to the volume. Blocks with unknown (missing) values for the
fraction field will contain "unknown material" in the material column of the dump file.

The remaining options on this panel apply to fields in the block model that contain percentages or fractions related to the volume of each
block. The options are typically used to process the results of the Mine option (under the Block > Manipulation submenu) or the Perform
Regularisation option (under the Block > Transfer submenu).

Mined out (or fillpc) field

Specify the field that contains the mined out or fillpc value.

Decrement percentage values/Record as fraction of block

You can either select the percentage for each block (volume) available for mining or the fraction of each block (volume) that has already
been mined.

For example, if the mined out field for a block has a value of 70%, then 70% of the block's volume is used in determining reserves. If the
mined out field for a block has a fraction value of 0.7, then 0.3 of the block's volume is used in determining reserves.

Note:

The options will work in conjunction with the fraction fields. If a block has been mined, or partially mined, then volume is adjusted
accordingly before the fraction field is applied to the volume.

Mined portions assumed inside regions

When a block is evaluated against a region (triangulation) the proportion of the block inside the region is determined. If the block has
been partially mined, as indicated by a mined fraction or available percentage field, then the treatment of the mined part has two cases:

Case 1 - Incremental Pits

Tick Mined portions assumed inside regions. If a previous pit has been used to set a mined field then the mined part of a block can
reasonably be assumed to lie inside the new pit. It this case the proportion inside region volume is determined and then the mined out
volume of the block subtracted. This method can be used to obtain accurate incremental pit volumes without the need to reblock the
model. Diagram 1 shows a block inside a reserves region that has been 0.3 mined (70%) available.

Diagram 1 - Incremental Pits

Reserve volume = Volume in region - volume mined

= (Total Volume * 0.5) - (Total Volume * 0.3)
= Total Volume * 0.2

Case 2 - Underground Stope with Development

Do not tick Mined portions assumed inside regions. Triangulations of development may be used to set a mined field in a block model. In
this case when evaluating a stope region the mined part of a block partly inside the region needs to be assumed equally distributed.
Here the reserve volume is the product of the proportion in region volume and the percentage not mined. Diagram 2 shows a block 50%
inside a reserves region that has been 0.3 mined (70% available).

Diagram 2 - Underground Stope with Development

Reserve volume = Volume in region * fraction not mined

= (Total Volume * 0.5) * (1 - 0.3)
= Total Volume * 0.35

Breakdown by bench
Tick this box if you want to breakdown a reserve by bench levels. You will be required to specify the bench origin, i.e. the starting RL, as
well as the bench height.

This option cannot be used with dipping block models.

Product Codes

Note:

Prior to reporting, set the number of decimals (through the Columns section) to be the same value as entered here. If this is not done,
then there may be slight differences in the calculated reserves.

Generate Product Codes

Tick this box if you want to use product codes and apply conditions. If this checkbox is not ticked, then no product codes can be
specified.

Product code/Condition
Each block in the model can be classified according to product, based on whether it satisfies the condition for that particular product. Each
product must have an associated condition and the first condition satisfied will determine the product for each block.

Blocks that don't meet the conditions for any of the products specified will contain "unknown product" in the product column of the dump
file. An example of the use of product codes may be in determining broad copper grade categories.

Product Condition

LOW_GRADE cu_ivd le 1.0

HIGH-GRADE cu_ivd gt 1.0

Refer to Appendix B of the Envisage Core documentation for a full list of available operators/functions.

Note:

A single condition can contain up to 256 alphanumeric characters.

Grade Variables

Density
The density variable allows the mass to be calculated from the volume values.
Default
The default density is used in the tonnage calculation for those blocks where the density field value is 0 (zero) or negative.

Variable
Up to 500 grade variables can be specified for the calculation of reserves. Grade variables can either be manually entered, or selected from
the available drop-down list.

Type
Each variable can be specified as "wt by mass", "wt by vol" or "sum". Grade values are sent to the dump file according to type and
appropriate entries are placed in the VARIABLE_TOTALS block.

 Sum
Used for variables containing units (e.g. grams of gold) that should be cumulated rather than averaged.

 Wt by Vol
Used for grade variables containing values based on volume weighted average (e.g. grams of gold per cubic metre).

 Wt by Mass
Used for grade variables that should be treated as a weighted average based on mass (e.g. grams per tonne of gold).

Tick the Use Average checkbox if you want the average grade value of the selected blocks to be used for the reserve calculation. Supply a "
default" value if you want to replace the default creation value of the selected blocks during the reserve calculation.

If a default is not specified, and the Use Average checkbox is not ticked, then the total volume and tonnage values for that grade variable
may be different to the values for the breakdown. In that case the total tonnage and total volume for the grade variable are also reported and
the grade value is based only on the blocks with known values.

The range of grade values is also sent to the dump file for each grade variable. This is to maintain compatibility with the block reserves
options under Reserves.

Specify decimals
Tick this box if you want to specify the number of decimals to be utilised during the calculation and reporting of the reserves; this has a
major impact upon the final reserves when utilising grade cut offs. The default number of decimal is '3'.

For example: We have a block with an Fe grade of 39.993 and a volume of 1,000 m3. We are reporting reserves using the following Fe
cut offs:

0 – 35, 35 – 40, 40 – 45, 45 – 50, 50 -55, 55 -60, 60-65, 65 -100

If we specify 3 decimal places, then the block will be assigned to the 35-40 % weight cut off; if we specify 1 decimal place it will be
rounded up to 40.0 and thus be assigned to the 40-45 cut off. Multiply this several thousands or millions of times and you can see that
this will have a significant impact upon the reserve. The total volume and tonnage will be unaffected by this as this is an assignment
process : blocks are assigned to different cut offs but the total volume will remain the same.

Elements are assayed to a particular level of accuracy. For example, Fe is usually reported to 1/100th of a percent (i.e. 0.01), therefore
there is no sense in using more than 2 decimal places when calculating a reserve.

Note:

Prior to reporting, set the number of decimals (through the Columns section) to be the same value as entered here. If this is not
done, then there may be slight differences in the calculated reserves.

Grade Cutoffs

Note:

Prior to reporting, set the number of decimals (through the Columns section) to be the same value as entered here. If this is not done,
then there may be slight differences in the calculated reserves.

Use grade cut-offs

Tick this box to use a grade cut-off variable to breakdown the reserves. You will need to specify the cut-off variable.

New breakdowns are defined based on the specified grade cut-off values (see below).
Below cut-off value
This is used in the "below cut-offs" column in the dump file if the value of the grade cut-off variable is less than the first (lowest) cut-
off value.
Unknown cut-off value
This is used in the dump file for missing values in the grade cut-off variable if no default grade value has been specified. However, if the
average grade is to be applied for the grade cut-off variable, then the average grade is calculated based on the matching breakdowns
(i.e. across the cut-off values) and the values are incorporated into the breakdown with the appropriate cut-off value.

Grade cut-off values may be specified as a range (first and last values), increment or explicitly by value. The values entered through the
First, Last and Cutoff fields can contain up to 4 decimal places.

Tick the Set products for applied cutoffs checkbox if you want specify which product codes will be broken down by cutoffs. You will need to
select the product codes from the available drop-down lists.

To exit the interface, simply select the Cancel button or left-click on the Close Window icon.

Tick this box if you want to view each triangulation before it is saved and added to the regions list. This is particularly useful if more
than one polygon is selected.
Allow duplicate object names
Tick this box if you do not want duplicate object names to be detected. If this checkbox is not ticked, then you will be required to
rename any regions that happen to have the same object name as another region.

The following options are only available when the Use New Naming Convention checkbox (under the Naming tab) has been ticked.

Display grade totals dynamically

Tick this box if you want to display the grade totals dynamically. The grade totals, which are calculated through the section, will be
displayed via a Report Window on the screen.
Layer Name
Enter the name of the layer in which to store the digitised polygons. The default layer name is 'SCHEDULED'. To create a new layer, simply
enter the layer name. Layer names can contain up to 40 alphanumeric characters (spaces cannot be used) and are always displayed
using capitals.

If you specify a layer that already exists, but is not currently loaded, then you will be asked whether or not you want to replace the
existing layer.

Use the Select button to pick an existing polygon from the screen. Once selected, you will be prompted to select the object (polygon) that
defines the region. The chosen polygon will then be converted to a triangulation region and you will be asked whether or not the conversion
resulted in the correct region.

Upon confirmation, you will be prompted to select another object. Cancel twice to return to the Advanced Reserves Editor. The selected
polygons will be renamed according to the naming conventions specified through the Naming tab.

The following buttons are only available when the Use New Naming Convention checkbox (under the Naming tab) has been ticked.

Use the Digitise button to digitise a polygon region. Any of the design entry modes, i.e. Snap to Point, Indicate etc., can be used.

Tip:

Use the [Backspace] key to undo the last digitised point, and the [C] key to centre the screen on the last digitised point.

Once selected, you will be prompted to indicate the points of the polygon. Do not try to close the polygon by redigitising the first point; simply
right-click to cancel creating the polygon and it will be automatically closed.

Use Change button to adjust/resize an existing polygon region by moving a nominated point. Once selected, you will be required to select the
polygon that you wish to alter.

You will then be prompted as to whether you wish to move, delete or insert a point. Once the necessary changes have been made, Cancel to

return to the 'Select polygon to modify' prompt. Cancel again to return to the Editor interface.

If you have ticked the Display grade totals dynamically checkbox, then you will be required to specify whether or not you wish to view the
report.

The regions selected, created or edited through this section will be automatically included in the list of selected regions (displayed through the
Triangulations section). The naming conventions used for the converted triangulations is specified through the Naming tab.

Naming

Settings specified through the Naming tab are saved under the 'Naming_Convention' area of the chosen reserves specification file (.res). Refer
to the Advanced Reserves Calculation Specification File page for an example.

Naming Convention
Use New Naming Convention
Tick this box if you want to specify an alternative naming convention for both the converted triangulation regions and the original
polygons.

If this checkbox is not ticked, then the fields below will be disabled and the triangulation files and polygons will be named according to
the polygon’s object name and the number of regions that have been selected for determining reserves.

For example: If 3 polygons were selected, and the Use Naming Convention checkbox was disabled (i.e. not ticked), then the polygons
will be renamed using the following naming convention:

region<n>_<object name>

where <n> refers to the sequence in which the object, and <object name> refers to the polygon’s original object name.

You will also need to tick this checkbox if you wish to perform the following:
 Display grade totals dynamically.
 Digitise polygons on the screen.
 Adjust an existing polygon.

The following options are only available when the Use New Naming Convention checkbox is ticked.

Triangulation/Polygon Name Components

This section allows you to define the naming conventions for both the converted triangulation regions and the original polygons.

Note:

 Before digitising the polygon regions, ensure that the <period>, <sequence> and <rl> components have been selected from the
Triangulation Naming Components section. If these components have not been selected, then you will be unable to digitise, adjust
or select the necessary polygons. You will be prompted to select all three of before being able to digitise/select the regions.

 While it is possible to configure the components of the triangulation name, as well as the order in which the components are
assigned, the polygon name components cannot be altered.

 Once the polygons have been created or selected, they may be deleted and resequenced through the Triangulations section. If you
happen to alter the naming convention at this point, then you will not be able to resequence again until they have cleared the
current set of regions

Triangulations

This section allows you to include triangulations as regions in the reserves calculations. The nominated regions can be grouped to allow
further amalgamation.

For example: If you have 100 triangulations on a pit bench where 60 are high grade and 40 are low grade, then grouping can be used to
report all the high and all the low grade regions thus resulting in 2 separate breakdowns rather than the total 100 regions.

Managing Triangulation Regions

Triangulations can either be selected from the screen or from one of your available data directories.

Use the Browse button to select the triangulations that you wish to use. Once the Browse button has been pressed, the Open panel will be
displayed.

file:///C:/Users/Javier%20Angel/AppData/Local/Temp/~hh8348.htm 13/03/2018
Envisage : Block : Advanced Reserves : Contents Página 19 de 49

Highlight the required triangulation files. To highlight multiple files, use the left mouse button in combination with the [Shift] key (this is for
triangulation that are adjacent in the list, for non-adjacent triangulations use the [Ctrl] key and the left mouse button). To select a
triangulation from an existing triangulation database, simply locate the applicable triangulation database connection file (.tri). Once found,
double-click on the file to display the contents of the triangulation database.

Button Description

Access the directory that you visited last.

Move up one level within your data directory. For example, if you are displaying the
contents of 'C:\MyData\Folder_A\', then selecting this button will move you to
'C:\MyData\'.

Hides/shows the details columns. The details columns, which contain information
such as file type, modification date and file size, can be sorted in ascending and
descending order.

Moves the highlighted files to the selection list, i.e. the right-hand side of the Open
panel.

Moves highlighted files from the selection list back to the left-hand side of the Open
panel.

Moves all files displayed in the left-hand side of the Open panel to the selection list.

Moves all files displayed from the selection list back to the left-hand side of the Open
panel.

Save Selection
Tick this box if you want to save the selection list, i.e. the right-hand side of the Open panel, within a nominated selection file (.sel).
Once this panel has been completed, the Save As panel will be displayed.

Select the file that will be used to store the triangulation selection list. To create a new file, simply enter the file name and file
extension. Navigate to a different directory if you want to nominate a different storage location.

Modify triangulation attributes

Tick this box if you want to modify the current display attributes for the selected triangulation files. We recommend using this option if
you don't want to use the display settings from a previous Envisage session. Once this panel has been completed, the Triangulation
panel will be displayed. Altering a triangulation's display attributes will cause the modification date stamp, i.e. the date modified, to be
updated.

file:///C:/Users/Javier%20Angel/AppData/Local/Temp/~hh8348.htm 13/03/2018
Envisage : Block : Advanced Reserves : Contents Página 20 de 49

The Modify triangulation attributes checkbox option is not applicable to triangulation files that are currently loaded onscreen. Use the
Attributes option (under the Model > Triangle Utility submenu) if you want to modify a loaded triangulation's display attributes.

Press the OK button to add the triangulation to the Triangulations list.

The Browse button will also allow you to select existing selection files (.sel and .sms).

To remove a triangulation, simply select the triangulation from the list and press the Clear button. To remove a group of triangulations,
simply use the left mouse button in combination with the [Shift] key to highlight the triangulations (this is for triangulations that are
adjacent in the list, for non-adjacent triangulations use the [Ctrl] key and the left mouse button) and select Clear.

To remove all of the triangulations, simply select the Clear All button.

Group Codes
To assign, or alter the group code, simply select the desired triangulations and enter the group code in the Edit Group field. Use the Set Group
button to assign the value.

In the following example the first 4 triangulations will be assigned a group code of ‘LOW’, with the remaining triangulations assigned a group
code of ‘HIGH’.

Select the triangulations from the list:

Once selected, enter the group code in the Edit Group field. Select the Set Group button to assign the group code to the chosen
triangulations.

Select the remaining triangulations.

file:///C:/Users/Javier%20Angel/AppData/Local/Temp/~hh8348.htm 13/03/2018
Envisage : Block : Advanced Reserves : Contents Página 21 de 49

Once selected, enter the group code in the Edit Group field. Select the Set Group button to assign the group code to the chosen
triangulations.

If you wish to modify an assigned group, e.g. you wish to change the group code of bench459.00t to 'HIGH', simply select the triangulation,
enter the new group code and select the Set Group button.

Note:

 The path names will be saved using the preferences specified through the Miscellaneous section of the Tools > Preferences option.

 A maximum of 2,215 triangulations may be saved at once through this interface.

 A single specification file (.res) may can contain up to 15,000 triangulations.

 Regions defined through this section of the interface will cause the bounding triangulation, which is nominated through the Block
Selection section, to be ignored.

 Undesirable figures may be produced if your regions extrude outside the block selection solid. We recommend that you reblock the
model to the block selection solid, flag the blocks inside with a value and then use this value as the block selection criteria.

To exit the interface, simply select the Cancel button or left-click on the Close Window icon.

Block Selection

file:///C:/Users/Javier%20Angel/AppData/Local/Temp/~hh8348.htm 13/03/2018
Envisage : Block : Advanced Reserves : Contents Página 22 de 49

This section allows you to define the selection criteria for selecting blocks from the block model for the calculation of the reserves.

The selection information is sent to the dump file (.dmp) as part of the header in the following form:

*
*BLOCK_SELECTION n
*
*ORE_TYPE=WASTE
*Condition:cu_ivd gt 0.15
*Extent lower X:31200.0, Y:6050.0, Z:230.0
*Extent upper X:31500.0, Y:6050.0, Z:580.0
*Proportional cell evaluation
*

where n refers to the number of lines of block selection information to follow. This is written to the dump file for later inclusion in reports
created using it.

Note:

When creating a new reserves specification file (.res), the block selection mode will be set to 'proportional cell evaluation'.

Select the Change button if you wish to alter the current block selection method. Once selected, the standard Block Selection panel is
displayed.

Block Selection panel

The directory path and filename of the currently open block model will be displayed at the top of the panel. The block model name will
consist of the project code (<proj>), if specified , the block model file identifier (<bfi>), followed by the block model file extension (.bmf).

Either all blocks or specific blocks can be selected. If you select specific blocks, then you can enter one or more of the following selection
criteria:

Variable
Tick this box to restrict the blocks by a block model variable. You will need to specify the variable, as well as a particular value.

For example: To restrict blocks to those where Material equals Ore, select 'Material' as the variable (from the drop-down list) and
enter 'Ore' as the value. However, if you require all blocks that do not have this specified value, then enable the Reverse matching
checkbox. The block model variable may be numeric (e.g. the grade variable 'Au') or character (e.g. 'Geology') variables.

file:///C:/Users/Javier%20Angel/AppData/Local/Temp/~hh8348.htm 13/03/2018
Envisage : Block : Advanced Reserves : Contents Página 23 de 49

Bounding triangulation
Tick this box to restrict the blocks by a triangulation. This is useful when, for example, you want to evaluate reserves within a
particular solid triangulation such as a stope.

Note:

This option is not applicable to open or 2D triangulations.

Bounding box
Tick this box to restrict the blocks by a box. The bounding box is defined in Interactive or Co-ordinate mode. The required mode is
selected from the Box Thickness panel, which is displayed once the Block Selection panel has been completed.

Section thickness
Tick this box to restrict the blocks by a section plane. You will need to enter its associated thickness. The blocks that are within this
thickness will be selected.

The section plane can be selected by line, points or grid co-ordinates. This information is entered through the Section Plane panel,
which is displayed once the Block Selection panel has been completed.

Condition
Tick this box to use a further constraint upon a numeric block model variable, e.g. Fe GT 10.0 (iron value greater than 10.0). The
maximum size of the condition is 132 alphanumeric characters. A list of available operators/functions is provided in Appendix B.
Bounding surfaces
Tick this box to restrict the blocks by bounding surfaces. Once the Block Selection panel has been completed, you will be required to
select (from the screen) the top and bottom surface triangulations. Only blocks that lie within the overlapping sections, as viewed in
plan view, of the surfaces are selected.

This checkbox will be disabled when the Cut and fill surfaces checkbox is in use.
Cut and fill surfaces
Tick this box to restrict the blocks to those that fall within two intersecting surfaces. This checkbox will be disabled when the
Bounding surfaces checkbox is in use.

The required triangulation surfaces are specified through the Cut and Fill Surfaces Selection panel, which is displayed once the Block
Selection panel has been completed.

Reverse matching
Tick this box to select outside the specified regions. See the description of the Variable field. This checkbox will be greyed out when
the Cut and fill surfaces checkbox is in use.
Use block centres
Tick this box if you want to use the full cell evaluation method. If this checkbox is not ticked, then the proportional cell evaluation
method will be used instead.

Full cell evaluation

Include blocks if the block centroid is within the region. The entire block will be included.

Proportional cell evaluation

Include those blocks that touch the region, and evaluate reserves according to the proportion of the block's volume that lies within
the region. Proportional cell evaluation calculates and reports the exact proportion of a block within a solid triangulation. When
selecting blocks, all blocks that touch the region are selected.

This checkbox is only available when using the Advanced Reserves Editor, or when limiting the block selection by a bounding box,
triangulation or surfaces.

Select OK.

From this panel, select the desired block selection criteria and select the OK button to proceed. The Selection Methods area of the Block
Selection section will display the new selection methods.

Note:

 The names of the nominated bounding surfaces will be recorded within the header of the generated dump file.
 The bounding triangulation nominated through the Block Selection panel will be ignored if any triangulation regions are specified.
 Using a combination of block selection methods will produce approximate intersection volumes.

The Report number of blocks entirely inside region and Report number of blocks partially inside region checkboxes allow you to count the
number of full and partial blocks contained within the region when calculating a reserve.

This section allows you to calculate the block reserves based on the currently open reserves calculation specification file and block model.
The results will be stored within a dump file (.dmp).

When calculating the reserves, the block creation default value will be ignored when calculating the grade value. The estimation default
value, if it is different from the block creation default value, will be included when calculating the grade value. All blocks that satisfy the
selection criteria are used for the tonnage calculation, regardless of their default grade value.

You must save the reserves specification file before calculating the block reserves for any changes to take effect. The reserve specifications
can either be saved into the currently open specification file, or into another nominated file.

Note:

As the block creation default values are ignored when calculating reserve grades, blocks with these values are effectively treated as if
they had the average grade of the blocks selected for that reserve breakdown zone.

Reserves specification file

The name of the currently open reserves specification file will be displayed. The available drop-down list will contain all .res files found
within your current working directory. Use the Browse button to select a file from another location.

To create a new file, simply enter the file name and file extension. By default, the resulting file will be stored in the current working
directory. Use the Browse button to nominate a different storage location.

This section utilises a context sensitive menu that allows you to perform options such as inserting and deleting rows, copying and pasting cells
etc. Refer to the Grid Controls section for more information on managing grid information.
This section, which is populated through ticking the Read columns from dump file checkbox (under the Report section), allows you to add,
delete or change columns in the report column list.

It is possible to copy and paste rows from tables by using the right-click context menus. Simply right-click in the row heading to access the
menu and then select 'copy' or 'paste'. Alternatively select the appropriate cell(s) and press the [Ctrl] + [C] keys to copy, or the [Ctrl] + [V]
keys to paste.

Name
Enter the column name. The name must be unique within the list of columns. The maximum size is 256 alphanumeric characters (spaces
are not allowed). The maximum number of columns per .tab file is 50.

Note:

 Do not use operators or function names in the column name.

 Up to 500 columns can be specified.

Heading
Enter the heading. The heading appears at the top of the column. The maximum size is 256 alphanumeric characters (spaces are
allowed). The heading is centred within the width specified below. It may not be wider than the column width.
Data Type
Specify the data type of the column. The column can be either a string (Character) or a value (Numeric).
Width
Enter the width, in characters, of the column. If a character column value exceeds the width of the column, then the value is truncated
to fit. If a numeric column value exceeds the column width, then the column is expanded for that row to accommodate the value. This is
to avoid undefined numeric values in reports. Numeric column values are right justified, character column values are left justified.

Column name --> column1 column2

Column heading--> Ore Waste
14.00 17.99
38.00 45.00
(column width)

Decimals
Enter the number of decimal places for numeric columns. If the value is negative, then no decimal places are displayed and the column
values are rounded.

For example, a value of -1 rounds to the nearest 10, -2 to the nearest 100 etc. The rounding of numeric columns does not affect the
original column values used in calculations; only the displayed values are rounded.
Derived column
Tick this box to derive the column from other columns. If this checkbox is not ticked, then the column must be from the dump file.

The following options are available when the Derived column checkbox has been ticked:
Calculate on Output
Tick this box to calculate the derived column on output. Calculations are based on the actual dump file column values for each row,
except for columns that are to be calculated on output. Columns that are calculated on output use the column values displayed for
that row.

Example - Calculating Columns on Output

file:///C:/Users/Javier%20Angel/AppData/Local/Temp/~hh8348.htm 13/03/2018
Envisage : Block : Advanced Reserves : Contents Página 30 de 49

The values in column3 are different to column4 because column4 has been derived from the column2 output values of 30.0 and
70.0, whereas column3 was derived from the values 10.0, 20.0, 30.0 and 40.0 (1.0/10+1.0/20.0=0.15,
1.0/30+1.0/40.0=0.05833).

Expression/Condition
Enter the expression and condition. Expressions are only used (in the calculation of the column) if a condition is associated with
the expression and that condition is met. The first condition to be met determines the expression to use and an expression without
a condition always evaluates to TRUE.

To avoid undefined column values, it is very important that there is always an expression that can be used, especially in the case
when none of the conditions are met. Take care also to avoid division by zero, numeric underflow and numeric overflow errors in
expressions.

Expressions for derived columns may include:

 Arithmetic operators
 Logical operators
 String operators
 Numeric functions
 Logical functions
 String functions
 Column names *
 Column internal function names **

Refer to Appendix B of the Envisage Core documentation for a description of the available operators/functions.

* Never use operators in column names or give columns the same name as any of the functions.
** Three types of column internal functions are available for use in deriving columns. This is done by prefixing the name of a
numeric column with Sum_, Max_ or Min_. These are the cumulative sum, maximum and minimum column internal functions
respectively.

The functions can be used to derive column values in the same way as column names. For example, a column could have the
following conditions and expressions:

Expression Condition

sum_column1 + sum_column2 product eqs "ORE"

max_column1 + column2 product eqs "ORE2"

min_column1 product eqs "ORE3"

column1
Class
Select a class type (Value, Average, Sum, Maximum, Minimum, Weighted average) from the drop-down list. Only one of these options
can be selected for the specified column (not applicable to character columns). This determines how the column values are to be
calculated and displayed.

Each variable column is generally treated as a sum, average, maximum, minimum or weighted average based on another column's value
(e.g. grade based on tonnage).

The Value option is used for columns that are not being subtotalled, but rather have their actual values reported. For example, columns
using the column internal functions Cumulative Sum, Maximum and Minimum.

Weighted By Column
Specify the column to use to get the value for weighting. This is only applicable when using the Weighted average option.
Display Final Total
Select this option to display the final total. This is only applicable when using the Value option.
Display in Polygon
Tick this box if you want to display the report information within a label. The label will be placed within the center of the polygons used
to make the regions. You will need to select the colour that will be used when displaying the labels.

Note:

Columns based on column internal functions, or columns calculated on output, cannot be used as sorting is performed before
column subtotalling.

Example - Order by Ring Column

Only Display Totals

Tick this box to report only the total values.
Report by
Specify the column(s) for which subtotals will be reported. Select the icon to specify more than one column. Once selected, the
Report By panel is displayed

Select the desired columns from the available drop-down lists. Every time the column value changes a subtotal row is displayed in the
table.

If you are also ordering by this column, then make sure that this column is the last one specified in the Order By field.

Note:

As subtotalling is performed before reporting column values, columns calculated on output cannot be used.

Character columns are excluded from the report if they are not used for ordering or subtotalling. Numeric columns are always included,
except when the Only Display totals box is not ticked (see Column Definition panel in the Columns option).

Conditions
The condition fields allow you to select which rows to include in the table based on whether certain column conditions are met. For
example, the following condition selects only the rows with a copper grade between 1.4 and 6.0:

cu_ivd gt 1.4 and cu_ivd lt 6.0

Up to 5 conditions may be entered, with each condition containing a maximum of 1024 alphanumeric characters. All conditions must be
true before a row is included in the table. Refer to Appendix B of the Envisage Core documentation for a full list of available
operators/functions.

Note:

Any column name can be used in the row selection conditions, but as row selection is performed before the sorting and subtotalling
of columns, columns based on column internal functions or columns calculated on output cannot be used.

Either all columns can be used in the table or a subset.

Select all columns

Tick this box to select all of the columns. If this option is selected, then the columns appear in the table as in the columns list.
Selected columns
If the Select all columns checkbox is not selected, then the Select columns column will be enabled. Select the icon to specify more
than one column. Once selected, the Selected Columns panel is displayed.

Select the columns from the drop-down lists. The columns appear in the table as per selection. For example, if column 5 was selected
followed by column 3 and column 1 , the columns appear in the table as 5, 3 and 1.

If subsets are selected, then the columns used to order and report by must be included in the subset. Selecting a column does not
necessarily mean that it is displayed in the table. See the description of the Report by option.

Section Description

This section displays the report title and any conditions used in the construction of the curves. Each
Header
line within the header section is preceded by an asterisk.

Cutoff This section displays the grade cutoff used, e.g. 50% Fe.

This section displays the average grade of the material that exceeds the grade cutoff. The variable is
defined through the Grade Variable drop-down list (on the Block Reserves Grade/Tonne Report
Grade panel).

For example: All of the blocks with Fe grade >= 65% have an average grade of 65.4%.

This section displays the weight of the material that exceeds the cutoff. This number will generally
Tonnes
decrease as the cutoff increases.

These values represent the upper and lower cutoffs of each increment reported. Increments are only
Increment reported when the Report Cutoff Increment Values checkbox (on the Block Reserves Grade/Tonne
Report panel) has been ticked.

This section displays the average grade of the material that falls within each increment.
Inc. Grade
Variable
For example: The blocks that have a grade between 50 & 555 Fe have an average grade of 51.69%.

This section displays the weight of the material that falls within each increment.
Inc. Tonnes
For example: The material that meets the 55-60% Fe criteria has a total weight of 569946849.32
tonnes.

These optional fields, which are selected through the Secondary Grade Variables panel, represent
the average of that particular variable within each increment.
Variables
For example: The blocks that meet the 55-60% Fe criteria have average Sio2, Al2O3 and LOI of
4.13, 2.45, 8.21% weight respectively.

If you chose to produce a graph from the resulting report, then the Line Graph Preferences interface will be displayed.

Classification fields
These fields allow the specification of a breakdown variable so that reserves can be broken down according to fields, such as GEOLOGY or
ORE_TYPE. For example, GEOLOGY could be a field in the block model with the values: TQ1, TQ2, TQ3. Each of these different geologies could form
the basis for a breakdown of the reserves, with grades reported for each of the three geological types.

A breakdown variable may be of data type Name, Byte, Short or Integer but not of type Float or Double. Refer to the Addition Parameters
option (under the Block > Transfer submenu) for an explanation on data types. If the breakdown variable is of data type Name, it is left
justified in the dump file, otherwise it is right justified.

Grade variable
Enter, or select from the drop-down list, the name of the grade variable on which to base the report. The chosen variable will be
referred to as the 'primary variable'.
Decimal places
Enter the decimal places to be displayed for the grade and tonnes figures.

model variable can either be manually enter, or selected from the drop-down list.
Use density value
Select this option to use a constant value when calculating the tonnage. You will need to specify the density value.

This section allows you to include triangulations as regions in the calculations.

Note:

 The path names will be saved using the preferences specified through the Miscellaneous section of the Tools > Preferences option.
 A maximum of 2, 215 triangulations may be saved at once through this interface.
 A single specification file (.res_spec) can contain up to 5, 000 triangulations.

Managing Triangulation Regions

Triangulations can either be selected from the screen, or through browsing your local data directories.

To remove a triangulation, simply select the triangulation from the list and press the Clear button.

To remove a group of triangulations, simply use the left mouse button in combination with the [Shift] key to highlight the triangulations (this
is for triangulations that are adjacent in the list, for non-adjacent triangulations use the [Ctrl] key and the left mouse button) and select
Clear.

To remove all of the triangulations, simply select the Clear All button.

Note:

 Regions defined through this section of the interface will cause the bounding triangulation, which is nominated through the Block
Selection section, to be ignored.

 Undesirable figures may be produced if your regions extrude outside the block selection solid. We recommend that you reblock the
model to the block selection solid, flag the blocks inside with a value and then use this value as the block selection criteria.

Note:

 The bounding triangulation nominated through the Block Selection panel will be ignored if any triangulation regions are specified.
 Using a combination of block selection methods will produce approximate intersection volumes.

To exit the interface, simply select the Cancel button or left-click on the Close Window icon.
