i. Why did I shortlist this country. A few reasons in particular.

iv. What kind of preparations are required and the strategy for the same
v. Things to keep in mind while filing the application (For ex:- when to start
applying, what level of professional assistance is required, what exams a student
needs to appear for etc.)
vi. How did I clear my immigration interview (tips to avoid VISA rejection)

b. Prepping for arrival as well as prepping for first day at college

i. Things to be ready with before landing in USA/Australia/Canada (or any other


country). For ex:- the amount and kind of clothing, minimum local currency that
needs to be carried, ID proofs (if anything besides passport), or anything else
you feel should be readily available with the student.
ii. What all should a student be equipped/prepared with on first day of class?
iii. How should a student plan his/her day? What all tasks should be
bandwidth/time be allocated to?
iv. What all can the student carry with him/her from his/her home country so that
extra expenditure is avoided on campus?

c. Accommodation & getting around town

i. Where should a student be ideally staying – off-campus or on-campus. What are


the key points to keep in mind before making this choice.
ii. In case of on-campus, how to book my accommodation of choice. How much in
advance should I be doing so. Would it be ideal to make an online choice or is a
verbal interaction with a University representative recommended? Anything
else, you would want to share on this.
iii. In case of off-campus, what would be the ideal source of information (online
and offline). Does the University assist in this case or am I left to myself? Usually
how much time does it take to finalize a deal? Can it be done staying in India or
do I have to be in Australia for this? In case it takes time, where do I find
temporary accommodation in Australia.

d. City-sightseeing/food/safety

i. What are the best transportation options available, what is usually more
convenient, and an approx. cost for the same. Any cost saving tips you would
like to share.
ii. Eat in and around campus and options to get these cheap. For vegetarians, are
veg meal options easily available. If so, what are the types of options would a
student have.
iii. What kind of food should a student carry from his/her home country?
iv. On the safety front, how safe in the campus/city/country from the point of view
of Indian/International students. What are the emergency contact
numbers/points that a student should be aware of. Any special redressal cell
within the University to help international students with this? Most importantly,
things to keep in mind to keep safe.
v. Top few places for sightseeing/entertainment/recreation that are specifically
interesting for young students (theatres/city centers/sea beaches/bars/cafes
etc.)

e. Finances/Working options

i. Would you recommend that students work part time along with study? How
does this impact grades or participation on other extra- curricular activity on
campus/other campus experiences?
ii. How easy/difficult it is to find part-time work options. To what extent can a
student sponsor his stay there through this option. What are the typical fields in
which a student is more likely to get part-time work.
iii. How much money should a student be carrying in hard currency, in the bank---
how much is required on a daily basis? For upfront deposits for the programme
if any? What are the unseen/unexpected expenditures for students-what should
their contingency reserves look like?

f. Placement

i. What are the chances/lucrativeness of getting placed after the studies are over.
ii. Usually how much time does it take for a student to get placed once the studies
are over
iii. Any tips for the students to optimize chances of getting placed with lucrative
offers

g. About the college


i. What do you think are the main USP points for this college.
ii. Which course are you presently pursuing and what is the main reason for
choosing this course from this University.
iii. Anything you don’t like about this course/faculty/Institute? (You may as well
choose not to answer this if you so desire)
