DISCUSSION TEXT : KTSP VS CURRICULUM 2013

1. ISSUE : The change of Indonesia Curriculum brings a positive and negative impact of
education actors, especially the teachers and students. It expected be able to Indonesian
Education be better than before. Actually, it doesn’t brings positive impact. The teacher
must quickly adapt to the new curriculum. The students should be able to adapt their
learning with the new curriculum will be implemented. For example, in recent years , the
Ministry of Education of Indonesia implementing a new curriculum called the curriculum
in 2013 . On July 15, 2013, the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of
National Education (Kemendiknas), has 'voice' that schools all over in Indonesia to
implement the curriculum 2013 (K-13). Although is still raising the pros and cons among
educational practitioners, the curriculum in 2013 still run until now.

2. ARGUMENTS FOR AND AGAINST : Those who support it stated that Curriculum
2013 is actually intended to reinforce the lesson so as not to burden the students. As a
result, students will focus on the challenges of the future. So also with the teachers, they
are not burdened in the preparation of Curriculum Education Unit. In addition, K-13
teach relevant skills, give knowledge related to the market, and good character.
There figures are pro curriculum 2013 :

1. Prof. Dr Ir . KH . Mohammad Nuh , DEA ( Former Minister of Education and


Culture Period 2009-
2014 ) . M Nuh is the main character the release of Curriculum 2013.

2. Prof. Dr Arief Rahman ( Professor of the University of Jakarta )


" Yeah , should be continued . The curriculum in 2013 that had the power of
competence . First he will develop competence unite all people who live in Indonesia ,
second to better understand the science , " said Arief . Arief added , " There are two
difficulties to be resolved by the government Jokowi - JK . First socialization of K13
that must be resolved . Then the second is about the distribution of school textbooks
that are currently experiencing delays ."

K - 13 students to teach relevant skills , have knowledge related to the market , and
noble character . While the curriculum in 2006 , has not been fully emphasize
character education , immature skills as needed , then knowledges off .
“There should be a national evaluation and invited experts including drafter in the
old ministry Evaluation there is a weakness . Not necessarily a surprise like this and
in a hurry.” he said.

Conversely, those who don’t agree with the curriculum 2013 stating that, there are still
many problems faced education in Indonesia if they still run the curriculum of 2013. One
of the problem is the low quality of teachers, shouldn’t be answered by the turn of the
new curriculum. The government should respond to the training of teachers who are able
to improve the quality of teachers in the training curriculum 2006. The other reason is the
application of Curriculum 2013 also doesn’t have a strong foundation.

1. Anies Rasyid Baswedan Ph.D ( Minister of Education and Culture of Primary
and Secondary Cabinet Jokowi - JK period 2014-2019 ) . He is a character who
initiated the termination of the curriculum in 2013 and make the curriculum in
2006 for reinstated .
2. Ridwan Kamil ( Mayor of Bandung )
“Curriculum 2013 makes the burden of the child grows , it is that many people
complain . My son also uses the curriculum of 2013. He went in the morning ,
come home tired , there was no time for chatting with family . This is not good ,
better back again using the curriculum 2006” Emil said .

The curriculum is considered to be very burdensome learners . “Myself have
claimed that the implementation of the curriculum in 2013 is very damage and
burdensome students. For that , I strongly agree that it is stopped , re- use
curriculum program has been good and in accordance with the students in
Indonesia,”said Chairman of the NU.
3. CONCLUSION : Judging from some of the pros and cons of the KTSP and Curriculum 2013
, I concluded if the curriculum in 2013 wanted to keep running , then there must be many
improvements to the systems involved in the implementation of the Curriculum 2013. Teachers
must be prepared mentally and intellectually in teaching using the system in 2013 how to give a
lot of socialization and training regarding the application of curriculum , 2013. In addition ,
existing facilities in schools should be sufficient as a Wi- Fi network and your Computer or
Laptop to the students in the learning process . In schools corners should receive funding from
the government 's to complete the facility. Because the learning process of students required to
be creative , do not have to explain teachers but students can also gain knowledge through the
internet . So communication is done in two directions .
