The aim of the assignment is to test students’ understanding of the issues related to
costing, particularly Job Order Costing and how to allocate overheads using pre-
determined overhead rate. This assignment requires students to employ the traditional
job order costing technique and then evaluate the results. In addition, the students are
also test on the ability of decision making process based on the case study. This
assignment is beneficial in preparing students in entering the working environment
and how to apply the theory in Management Accounting with the business situation
given.
Case Study 1- Pg CA-3 of the text book : Greetings Inc (Wall Décor)
This case study is about a business situation in which a traditional retailer decides to
employ internet technology to expand its sales opportunity.
Question no. 2 requires students to explain the advantages and disadvantages of using
the cost of each print as the manufacturing. Students must apply the advantages and
disadvantages with the business situation in the case study.
Question no. 3 requires students to compute the pre-determined overhead rate under
job order costing system and interpret the answers.
Question no. 4 & no. 5 requires students to calculate the based on the data provided.
Question no. 6 requires students to interpret the answers with the findings from the
above question.
Question no. 7 requires students to identify problems that might occur in allocating
the overheads and relates with the case study.

1. Cover Page – Should have the code & name of subjects (i.e. BAC-
Management Accounting 1), the topic of the assignment, prepared for,
prepared by (Group member’s name & ID numbers) and due date at the
bottom

4. Summary of the case study (limited to 2 pages only)
5. Content- Based on the question given
6. Conclusion – To conclude the overall findings in the case studies
7. References, Example: Author, Year of publication, Title, Source of
publication.
8. Spacing -Your assignments are to be typed double-spaced throughout
(including references in the reference list)
9. Page numbering – Pages are numbered consecutively beginning with the
Introduction page.
10. The left margin should be 4cm (1 ½ inch) to allow any form of binding. The
top, bottom, and right margins should be at least 2.5 cm (1 inch). Set these
margins as your default for your page using the page setup function of your
word processor.
The due date of this assignment is on 22nd April, 2010, at 5 p.m. Any late submission
will not be entertained.
Presentations will only be conducted if we have sufficient time and students will be
informed later on this matter.
