MONDAY: John 14:1-14 Directions
Have you ever been lost? Sometimes even with our sophisticated means of
plotting a course from point A to point B, we can become confused as to which
way to turn.
REFLECTION: Reflect on the idea of Jesus as the path to finding God.
TUESDAY: John 14:1-14 Trust
Maps are helpful, directing our path and giving us guideposts along the way.
REFLECTION: Reflect on a time when you had doubts about your path. Which
was greater, your trust in outward, tangible directions, or your trust in an inner
directive spirit?
WEDNESDAY: John 14:1-14 Proof and Knowing
Thomas had difficulty understanding the messages shared by Jesus. He wanted to
know exactly what Jesus meant.
QUESTIONS: Ask yourself these questions regarding your spiritual life: Do I need
tangible or explainable proof to believe in God? Do I need tangible or explainable
proof to accept Christ?
THURSDAY: John 14:1-14 Parents and Children
Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father before they would truly believe.
Jesus attempts to help him understand that Father and Son are one and the
same. Mothers and daughters; fathers and sons: we are our own selves, yet we
are our mothers and fathers as well.
REFLECTION: Reflect on this concept of different yet same when it comes
to mothers and fathers and their children. Transfer the concept of a healthy,
perfect relationship to that of God and God’s son, Jesus.
FRIDAY: John 14:1-14 Continuation
Jesus does the work of the Father. As a follower of Christ, we emulate the
behavior and the good works of Christ. Through our connection with Christ, we
are connected to God.
CONSIDER: Consider this concept of being connected to God through Christ.
Consider the continuation of relationship from God, to Jesus as the Christ, to all
of humanity.
SATURDAY: John 14:1-14 The Way, The Truth, and The Life
PRAYER: Directing God, thank you for sending us Jesus as the Christ who shows
us a pathway to understand and connect with you. Help us to follow His path,
glean the truth of your love and grace, and live the fullness of life you intend for
us. AMEN
“Who’s Going to Guide Me? - I AM!”- March 11
Scripture: John 14:1-14 (NLT)
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is
more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have
told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I
will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you
know the way to where I am going.”
“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are
going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the
Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who
my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t
know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you
asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and
the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives
in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the
Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have
done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You
can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring
glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!
