CIVIL
• The civil works will be designed, manufactured and erected according to the
requirements laid down in the recent relevant codes, standards, accident prevention
regulations and legal regulations. Requirements for the Project given with local laws and
regulations shall be fulfilled in every respect by the Bidder.
• All buildings shall be designed and executed in compliance with Moroccan codes and
standards (NM Norms Marcaine) and regulations and particularly RPS2000 (Regalement
pour constructions parasismique). In cases where NM does not exist, appropriate
international standards will apply.
• All materials to be used, the engineering and design of the works and the erection on site
shall be covered by the following codes and standards:
- Moroccan Standards,
- International Organization for Standardization: ISO
- European Standards: European Norm (EN)
- National Standards, like German Standards: DeutschesInstitutfürNormungeV (DIN)
when Moroccan or International Standards do not exist.
- If the Bidder wants to use other standards, he is responsible to provide the complete
English edition of the other standards and demonstrate the equivalent to the
standards like listed above to the satisfaction of Masen.
• Insulation:
All buildings shall have a heat insulation, sound and noise insulation and water proofing
according to the following codes and standards:
(a) DIN 4108 : Thermal protection and Energy economy in buildings
(b) DIN 4109 : Sound insulation in buildings
(c) DIN 18 195 Water-proofing of buildings
Steel and welded structures shall meet the requirements of the following codes and
standards:
(a) AWS D1.1: Structural Welding Code–Steel
(b) ASTM A 36: Standard Specification for Carbon Structural Steel.
(c) ASTM A 1011: Standard Specification for Steel, Sheet and Strip, Hot-Rolled,
Carbon, Structural, High-Strength Low-Alloy, High-Strength Low-Alloy with
Improved Formability, and Ultra-High Strengt.
(d) ASTM A 123: Standard Specification for Zinc (Hot-Dip Galvanized) Coatings on
Iron and Steel Products.
Reinforced concrete structures and foundations shall be designed in accordance with the
requirements for concrete buildings and structures published by the American Concrete
Institute (ACI); or equivalent European association.
• Structural concrete:
(a) Structural concrete shall comply with the following codes and standards:
(i) ACI 301: Specifications for Structural Concrete.
(ii) ASTM C94: Standard Specification for Ready-Mixed Concrete.
(b) The materials shall be handled and stored according to the requirements of the
following code:
ACI 304: Measuring, Mixing, Transporting, and Placing Concrete.
Welded wire fabric shall comply with the requirements of the following code:
- ASTM A 766: Standard Specification for Electrodeposited Coatings of Cadmium.
• Galvanized Work
Galvanization work shall comply with the requirements of the following code:
(a) ISO 1461: Hot dip galvanized coatings on fabricated iron and steel articles -
Specifications and test methods.
(b) EN ISO 14713: Guidelines and recommendations for the protection against corrosion
of iron and steel in structures.
• Painting
Note: The codes mentioned above are typical standards as per industrial practice. However
the standards to be used for each equipment shall depend on the specification and
requirement agreed with Masen.
