BODY FLUID ANALYSIS EQUIPMENT This piece of laboratory equipment is
essential in all hospitals and clinics
and in some doctor offices. It is
designed to perform numerous tests
on blood, urine or other bodily fluids.
Most machines like this require both
pressure and vacuum and need one
unit to perform both functions.
Pressure operates small cylinders
which move samples through the
machine. Vacuum is used to move
liquid samples and reagents through
the machine.

ANTI-STATIC DEVICE Static buildup on film will affect the
machinery it is used on.
Removing the static electricity using
compressed air assures the user that
there will be no problems.

AIR KNIFE The primary use of air knives is to
remove water or other liquids from
items. Air knives utilize a large
volume of air at fairly low pressures
and precisely focused to remove
moisture from products by blowing it
away. One of the best applications
for air knives is parts washers.

PAPER STACK AIR TABLE The stacks of paper used in all
graphic arts applications are
extremely heavy. To make matters
more difficult, the combination of high
speed presses and the various types
of paper make it necessary to handle
these stacks frequently. To make the
job easier, these stacks are floated
on an air table so they can be
manipulated with very little effort.

TUB DOOR SEAL Handicapped and elderly people
often have difficulty getting into and
out of most conventional tubs and
showers. A special tub with a door
allows easy access for such people.
When the door is closed, a
compressor inflates a rubber seal
which prevents water leakage. When
the water is drained, seal pressure is
released and the door can be
opened.

DRY SPRINKLER SYSTEMS All office and warehouse space is
protected from fire by sprinkler
systems. But water in overhead
pipes can be dangerous since
condensation or leaks can damage
materials under the pipes. A dry
sprinkler system which uses
compressed air in the pipes above
the office or warehouse space can
solve the problem. When a fire is
detected, a valve opens and air is
released, permitting water to rush
through the pipes to the sprinkler
heads.

PAPER COUNTING MACHINES Depending on the operating principle
of the machine, either vacuum or
pressure can be used to separate
sheets for an accurate count. This
can be a big help in counting paper
money, for example.

PNEUMATIC TUBE DELIVERY SYSTEMS Money, messages or other small
items can easily be delivered
anywhere in a building by means of
a pneumatic tube system.
Compressed air, or in some
cases vacuum, propels the
shuttle with its cargo to any

AIR SPARGING EQUIPMENT Many soil and groundwater remediation
sites use compressed air to aid in
cleanup. The air stimulates
microorganisms that actually feed on
the contaminants; it will also assist in
other remediation techniques being
performed at the same time, such as
soil vapor extraction.

TIRE INFLATION EQUIPMENT Most gas stations and car wash
facilities have compressed air available
for customers to inflate tires. Many
times this air comes from a
compressor mounted in a
coin-operated box.

PLASTIC PELLET DRYING AND CONVEYING Most plastic parts begin life as very
small plastic pellets. These pellets
are sent into a molding machine
where they are melted and formed
into their ultimate shape. As these
pellets are waiting to be used, they
must remain dry. Compressed air is
used to continuously remove
moisture; vacuum may be used to
transport pellets from one storage bin
to another pneumatically.

CONCRETE AERATION Until it is mixed or bagged, most
concrete is stored in large bins.
To keep the concrete from hardening,
air is injected into the base of the bin.
This helps keep the concrete dry and
prevents clogs.

BREATHING AIR Workers in paint booths and other
areas where hazardous gas
may be present need a portable
source of air. Rotary vane units
can provide the volume of air needed
at the low pressure required for as
many as eight people.

SHALLOW WATER DIVING AIR Shallow water diving offers an option
between snorkeling and scuba diving
for vacationers or hobbyists. Shallow
water diving equipment provides a
source of air that makes it possible to
stay under water for extended
periods at depths greater than those
snorkeling permits but not as deep
as scuba equipment allows.

TEXTURE SPRAYING EQUIPMENT Construction workers all over the
world use air to apply fancy textures
to ceilings and walls. The same
spraying equipment can be used to
apply sound-absorbing materials to

FREON/HALON RECLAMATION Not only is it damaging to the
environment to release refrigerants
into the atmosphere, it is also
expensive. Almost anywhere they
are present, refrigerants must be
collected. Vacuum is used to
evacuate them, while a compressor
forces them into a storage vessel.

AIR BED Patients who are confined to bed for

CIRCULATION THERAPY EQUIPMENT In certain medical situations, such as
post surgical recovery, it is necessary
to keep a patient’s blood, which has
a tendency to collect or “pool” in the

POND AERATION Pond aeration is done for two basic
reasons. One is aquaculture, where
large numbers of fish are “farmed”
in a single pond. The second is
ecological. As a pond or lake ages, it
can lose its oxygen supply and may
die. When air is introduced into a
pond or lake, oxygen becomes
plentiful again and life in and around
the water can flourish.

AUTO DETAILING EQUIPMENT This piece of specialized equipment
is used to clean each part of a
car or boat. Compressed air

speed printing presses and are

VACUUM HOIST Vacuum, an invaluable aid in
assembly, packaging and inventory,
can be used to manipulate just about
any heavy object. Most hoist

drums. Depending on the product

sterilization. In these cases, a

PLASTIC PELLET DRYING AND CONVEYING Most plastic parts begin life as very
small plastic pellets. These pellets
are sent into a molding machine
where they are melted and formed
into their ultimate shape. As these
pellets wait to be used, they must
remain dry. Compressed air is used
to continuously remove moisture;
vacuum may be used to transport
pellets from one storage bin to
another pneumatically.
