National Society of Black Engineers Memphis Professionals 2017 AWFE Memphis

Why AWFE?
There is a disparity of minority students who matriculate
through high school and go on to pursue and receive degrees
in technical fields. The National Society of Black Engineers
initiated A Walk for Education in 2002 to combat this issue
and to increase the pipeline of qualified minorities into sci-
ence, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
disciplines. The goal of this annual community educa-
tion event is to increase awareness of the opportunities avail-
able through education, particularly in STEM fields.

The Impact

 150 students received backpacks & bags

 50 students engaged in hands-on engineering activities,

interacted with college representatives, and met Mem-
phis engineers
