Es la historia de una señora que pide ayuda a Sherlock Holmes porque alquiló una habitación a

un hombre y todo le resulta muy extraño. Por ejemplo, no lo ve nunca, le deja la comida en
una silla al lado de la habitación y no quiere que nadie le moleste. Además deja las notas
escritas en letras mayúsculas y pide el periódico. Sherlock Holmes va a casa de la señora y
empieza a investigar, dándose cuenta que existe otra persona en la habitación y que se
comunican por el periódico a través de un código. Una noche Sherlock Holmes acompañado
del Dr. Watson observan que desde la habitación se hacen señales con una luz y cree que hay
una situación de peligro. Cuando bajan a la calle se encuentran con dos inspectores de policía,
uno británico y otro de USA, lo cuales persiguen a un peligroso asesino llamado Gorgiano que
había cometido crímenes en América y se escondía en un pequeño apartamento y enviaba
mensajes a miembros del círculo rojo. Cuando suben para arrestarlo en el apartamento lo
encuentran asesinado con un círculo rojo de sangre en el suelo. Sherlock Holmes hace señales
con una luz a través de la ventana y viene una chica que era la extraña inquilina de la Sra.
Warren.

the window and comes a girl who was the the Mrs. Warren’s mysterious lodger.
