9. I had to make decisions based on fairness and equality. I applied this skill
mostly during the planning stages, because I tried to make decisions basing
myself on scientific arguments. This way I believe my judgment was fair and
equal, because I evaluated the information and options critically.
10. I made effective notes. I really used this skills during the research, and it
helped me organize and summarize information, so that I could skim the
things that were more useful for my project, out of a broad quantity of
information.
11. Formulated provocative and relevant questions and goals I used this skill in
the beginning when selecting my goal and inquiry question. I believe my
goal was challenging and significant, and my inquiry questions useful for
guiding my research.
12. I had to make intuitive judgments I used this skill when planning my project,
because I had to select materials and methods basing myself on my
knowledge, and the conclusions I could draw from it.
13. I tried to apply skills and knowledge in unfamiliar situations. I used this skill
mostly in the planning ad production part, since I had to to proceed and
select using my own skills and previous knowledge. Perhaps things did not
go perfectly always, but I enjoyed taking the risk and learning from my won
mistakes.
14. I read a variety of sources for information and for pleasure Given that the
topic is quite complex, and investigations on it are still being carried out, I
had to read a lot of different articles written by different scientist from
distinct institutions, to earn a good knowledge and overview. I enjoyed it
because the topic is of my interest, and I even produced more questions
throughout the process.
15. I evaluated and selected information sources and digital tools based on
their appropriateness to specific tasks. I was critical evaluating sources, by
using four parameters. I also selected information for a specific question, but
it could frequently address more than one.
19. I helped others. I did this by sharing my knowledge with other classmates so
that they could make their project more efficiently.
20. I used active listening techniques to understand others, I used this skill during
the interviews I had, in order to be able to understand. I also used it during
the meetings with my supervisor, to receive significant feedback.
21. I had to consider ideas from other perspectives and points of view. I
definitely had to use this skill in order to gather information and produce my
product. This, because I had tic onside information and ideas from a
scientific point of view, but also a social and environmental, by considering
the repercussion it may have had, and economic one, by considering the
budget I had.
23. I created projects and products using knowledge and skills gained across
different subject areas. I believe this skill was key for me, because I
proposed myself a challenging goal, basing myself on knowledge I had
acquired in Scholl, in relation to the problem being addressed. Also, this skill
helped me develop the ideas for my final product.
24. I accessed information to be informed and inform others. All the information
I gathered makes part of my personal learning process. I believe my
research as a whole informed of really interesting things in a variety of
subject. I often share my experience with others who are interested, and
was happy to teach some of my teachers, some things they did not know.
25. I used and interpreted a range of concept specific terminology. Since the
project was very scientific, I had to use a lot of technical language,
specially in the subject of polymer science, organic chemistry, and physics. I
often had to search for definitions, ad this helped me increase my learning.
26. I found and selected information via different media. I used this skill because
of the fact that I used a variety of web ages and articles, but I also
conducted interviews and experiments.
27. I practiced positive thinking. I practiced this skill during the moments that I
felt frustrated, it helped me continue working with a good attitude. Know I
apply this skill to my life often.
29. I negotiated goals and limitations with peers and teachers. I applied this skill
when comparing my work with my classmates. We arranged similar delaines
to support each other during the process. I also applied it with my
supervisor, to discuss my limitations and the goal of my project.
30. I had to use structural planners for different academic tasks. I used this skill
mostly at the beginning for brainstorming and producing an action plan for
my project.
31. I had to make inferences and draw conclusions. I had to use this skill mostly
during the planning stage, because with the research I had gathered, I had
to select the polymer I would use, drawing conclusions and inferring from
this background information.
35. I had to identify different points of view. I had to do this when researching,
because I read different studies and articles, which were written by different
people and institutions. Although arguments where mostly based
unscientific data, the point of view of a scientist, did infer on how, he/she
interpreted the data.
36. I set appropriate management goals and plan strengths to achieve them. I
did this on the very beginning, since I selected 10 skills that I felt I needed
and performed weakly. I wrote a plan to develop them throughout 8 – 10
weeks, and recorded my progress.
37. Seek out criticism and feedback from others and make informed choices
about including it in one’s work. I used this skill because I played lets of
attention in my supervisor´s meetings. Also, I often asked other teachers and
students for their help, and tried to include their comments in my work,
without taking out the essence of the work I had performed.
38. I sought out constructive criticism. I did this by asking fro comment from my
supervisor, my peers and other teachers. This helped me improve my work in
aspects I consider are not my strengths like reflection and aesthetic display.
This way I believe my work improved.
39. I took responsibility for my own actions. Throughout the process I made
mistakes and errors, also missed deadlines sometimes. However, I was
honest with myself and other when spacing about my actions, and this
helped me grow as a person and made my work and learning much more
efficient.
40. I gave and received appropriate feedback. I used this skill mostly with my
friends. This occurred, because since all of us wren doing the personal
project, we produced constructive comments on each other´s work, for
each and everyone one of us to improve the work.
41. I had to identify obstacles and challenges, I had to do this throughout the
project to be able to be able to find other ways to achieve the same
objective I had in the beginning. I believe I used this skill the most during the
product, since I had lots of challenges to test and produce the product,
and I had to change my plan to achieve what I wanted.
44. I utilized different media to gain perspective. I used this skill during my
investigation. Since the project was trnasdsciplinary, I gathered information
to evaluate ideas from environmental, scientifically and economic
perspectives. I also read different interpretations f the same information,
and this way I obtained the perspective of different scientists.
45. . I practiced safe, legal and responsible use of information technology. I did
this by citrating, and making a bibliography. This way I gave recognition to
the author that provided me the information.
46. I planned strategies to guide my personal project inquiry. I did this with an
action plan, it helped me have a balanced and interactive learning
experience, where the knowledge was trans disciplinary.
47. Practice strategies to reduce stress and anxiety. I did this by having a
balance. I did not only work, but combined it with leisure time, exercise and
a balanced nutrition.
48. I kept a reflective journal of personal learning experiences focused on both
process and content. This skill really helped me during my process. I
reflected over the learning and content I published in my process journal, I
believe this made me more critical, and also aware of the importance of
some learning experiences.
49. I understand when and how to build consensus. I understand the subject I
studied was a complex one, however, I believe consensus may be built in
every single one, by addressing the person in the way that engages them,
teaching interactively this way.
