Topic: Transformative Business Practices for Equitable and Inclusive Growth: Challenges and
Opportunities.
In the present context, there are many opportunities and challenges in the business world. Every
business has to innovate to sustain and prosper in the dynamic world. Discussions amongst the
students and veterans of the field helps to enhance the knowledge and gain much exposure to
the real world scenario. It provides a platform for the students to discuss the current topics and
clear their doubts with the high stature dignitaries. The topic revolve around the main theme of
the conclave and gave brief description about its utility and importance.

The panel discussion consisted of the following panelist Dr. Subramani Ramakrishnan (Associate
Partner) – IBM India, Mr. Siddhartha Khaitan (Finance Director) – McCormick Kohinoor, India, Mr.
Mihir Modi (CBO) – Zee Entertainment Limited. The panel discussion started with Ms. Megha
Goenka introducing the above panelist and the moderator. The moderator Dr. Rajiv Joshi initiated
the discussion by asking each panelist the importance of innovation.

Mr. Mihir Modi was the first speaker of the panel discussion. According to him, Reliance Jio is a
classic example of Incremental Innovation. He explained that innovation to all products is not
necessary because it complicates the issue, instead normal procedure for some basic products
should be maintained. He explained that in today’s corporate world conservative approach
doesn’t contribute much to innovation, but this is changing as heart of innovation is through
experimentation.

Dr. Subramani Ramakrishnan was the second speaker in the discussion. He started with
explaining the future of data analytics. He was more focused on the challenges faced by data
analytics in the corporate world. He mentioned about the new innovation that always disrupts
the existing technology like – ATM to bank cashier, digital marketing to standard marketing
practices and artificial intelligence to data analytics. He also explained how to formulate a
business plan through data analytics. This is done by humans with little errors but according to
him Artificial Intelligence is a better option.

Mr. Siddhartha Khaitan was the third speaker of the discussion. According to him, if we don’t
understand the new innovation then we can’t just bet on the stakes because it has some potential
in the near future. In the same way, Bitcoin can be a new innovation which can eliminate the
paper currency. He mentioned about the role of government in helping incremental innovation
in the country with the example of GST. He also explained about the innovation which simplifies
our day to day processes and tedious tasks.

The Panel Discussion was an innovative concept which helped the students get acclimatized to a
productive activity. It involved the students and the panel on key discussions that have a
substantial practical relevance and demands critical thinking. The speaker spoke in their
respective segments and the buddying managers keenly heard their monologues. It was now the
time to discuss some important questions with the esteemed panel. The panel very intrinsically
discussed all the questions and the students were given a chance for more clarifications. The
session was of vital importance as this platform is a direct connect of the student managers and
panel. The session ended on a satisfying note with all the questions addressed properly, and the
notions and explanations of the esteemed panel helped the students garner more and more
knowledge about Innovation.

Valedictory:

LRC Auditorium
Post Panel Discussion session, the Drishticone 2017 proceeded towards the concluding ceremony
which was the valedictory function. A two day event of intellectual concepts, rigorous discussions
and lectures was summed up by Mr. Gaurav Oswal (CIC member). The flow of thoughts and
enlightenment on the topic of innovation was of a paramount value for everyone, the guests
added more zeal by connecting with the audience. The grass-root causes and functioning of the
theories on innovation and the practical applicability was all that was transferred through their
individual contribution.

The Corporate Interaction Committee (CIC) is a student body and a pioneer in bridging the gap
between the Corporates and the Institute. Working under the guidance of the ace faculty
Chairperson Dr. S. Senthil Kumar, the CIC works all-round the year for the student managers. The
very foundation upon which this body functions is commitment, hard-work and excellence. The
CIC has extended the ambit of pedagogical methods by conducting Guest Lectures, CxO
Conclaves, Interactive Workshops and Industrial Visits. It also has an imperative role in
conducting MICVV and Institute Day which in furtherance help in strengthening the knowledge
and to have a knack of the corporate world. The key goal of the committee is to constantly strive
to enhance industry interaction with our student Managers helping to create a synergistic
relationship.
