Introduction
Music is an art form whose medium is sound. Common elements of music are
pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated
concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities
of timbre and texture. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike), "(art)
of the Muses." (source- Wikipedia)
What would life be without music? The world would be a very quiet place.
Music is in many ways the fabric of our lives and the definition of society. It is
a reminder of how things once were an indication of how things are, and a
view of where society is headed. Music is a direct reflection of the picture of
society. Music can be a way to deliver messages, a poetic medium, a fine art,
or nothing more than a source of entertainment. No matter what it is used
for, music is the perfect art and our lives would be that much less complete
without it that life as we know it would not at all be the same without Music
is the perfect art. It has movement, because it progresses over a set period
of time
Methodology
We have been asked to do a project that will involve some data collection
from students of IPG KSAH. We decided to do a survey about favorite music
among IPG KSAH’s trainee teachers. To gain information from the
respondent, the main methodology employed in this study was a survey
questionnaire about music such as type of music and the reason to listening
to music by doing survey on 40 trainees teacher of IPG KSAH which involved
20 male and 20 female students. The respondents were also asked to write
down the name of their favourite artist based on preferred type of music.
The data collected then analyzed by doing table, chart and graph. Then the
data were interpreted based on the suitability of the information collected.

Based on the result from bar chart the question 2, the respondents were
asked to answer which type of music that they prefer most. We can see that
there are big differences in between male and female student. Most of male
students (9 out 20) like to listen to nasyeed. While, there are 6 out of 20
female students like to listen to nasyeed. For Rap and Hip-hop category,
there is 1 male and 1 female student. Surprisingly, most of female students
(10 out of 20) like to listen to R&B and Soul category. This may due to that
female students like to listen to slow love song. There are only 2 male
students like to listen to R&B and Soul. For the Pop category, there are 4
male students and surprisingly there is no female student like Pop. For the
Rock category, there are 2 students for each gender. There are I female and
2 male students like to listen to Country. We find out that the advantage of
this type of graph is easy to make comparison (e.g-gender, age, races). It
also easy to understand by most people because the symbols of the bar
chart are simple and attractive. But this kind of graph also has its own
disadvantage such as; it does not show interrelationships between activities,
use only with different data and limited space for labeling with vertical bar
graphs. We find out that bar chart is suitable for this question to make
comparison.
The table of result from the question 3 shows that most common reason to
listen to music is to relax their mind (62.5%). This maybe one of the way for
them to forget their stress because of a lot of work to do. Followed by that,
some of them listen to music just for fun (20.0%). 15.0% of them listen to
music because they feel bored and have nothing else to do. And only 2.5%
do not really listen to music much.
The pie chart for the result of question 4 shows their preferred time to listen
to music. For the first chart, it shows the percentage of the entire respondent
which included male and female students. It shows that half of them listen to
music during the leisure time. 25% of them listen to music for all time and
25% listen to music when they do their work. This situation shows that
student more prefer to listen to music and relax their mind when they feel
free from other work. So do results (percentage) shown in the second and
the third pie chart which the second one is for male and the third one is for
female student. The advantages for this graph are it requires minimal
additional. It also good explanation for a single series of data (general data)
and summarize a large data set in visual form. It also easy to understand by
looking at the angle of each region. We can see the scoop of each
category/answer. It also easy to draw by using certain software such as
Microsoft Excel. We just make tabulation and just insert the graph for the
table. The disadvantages for this graph are not good for quantitative displays
and too general. It also a poor choice for comparing (e.g- gender). If we still
want to compare by using pie chart, it would be like this;
Pie chart are also hard to draw by hand, we have to measure the angle for
each region by using protractor and draw it nicely.
The table for the results of question 5 shows that most 55.0% of students
prefer group artist. 37.5% prefer solo artist. Only 5.5% prefer duet artist. We
can relate this result with result of question 2(preferred type of music).
Maybe they are more preferred to group artist because of they like to listen
to nasyeed. Maybe we can relate with music culture and style for this time.
Nowadays, many group artist from other countries such as a hot and
handsome Korean group, SS501 dominated the international music industry.
Conclusion & Recommendations
From all of the result that had been discussed, we find out that trainee
teachers of IPG KSAH like to listen to music during their leisure time. Most of
them like to listen to nasyeed for male students and R&B and Soul for female
students. Most of trainee teacher also preferred to group artist. This situation
shows that the minds of young people are filled with eternal hope, which
reflects in their musical creations. The combination of young minds and
music evokes joy and hope. Unlike the people who have earned gray hair,
the music of young people serves as a reminder to the fact that nothing is
impossible.
When my friends and I got this coursework, I felt so happy because I can get
more knowledge and collaboration from my friends. During starting to do this
coursework, we have no problem because we think the questions are not
difficult. But, after we read the question carefully, its quite difficult to do.
Last but not least, last but not least, I am thankful for having family and
friends who always suport me in order to complete this task. I am thankful to
all those involved directly and indirectly to finished up the coursework within
the time prescribed. I hope the task fully accepted by Madame Nor Asilah
.binti Osman. Thank you

Alhamdulillah…
A very grateful to Allah SWT because this course works already finishes
completely. First of all, I would like to thank to Madam Asilah Binti Osman as
our lecturer which give us this tasks and guiding us to do this course work.
Then, I also like to thank to my group because giving the best commitment
and co-operation in order to make this course work better.
We were asked to write to do survey on our own title of the survey. Before do
this survey we have to do questionnaires form. At the first, we face some
problems such as in determining the title of survey or what thing we want to
survey. We take two days to think and finally we decide to do survey on
trainee teachers’ favourite music. Then we also refer to lecturer about our
discussion. This valuable guidance given makes us more confident to
complete this task.
There are several things that I learnt from this survey, one of them is how to
applying data in a kind of chart. I also feel so happy because I can get
satisfaction of doing well in this coursework.
