a) Adverbs are placed after the intransitive verb or after the object of a
transitive verb. (Mainly Adverb of place, manner and time.) After the intransitive
verb:
He walks slowly. Adverb of manner
It is raining heavily. Adverb of manner
The dog barks loudly. Adverb of manner
He came here. Adverb of place
I shall go yesterday. Adverb of time
After the object of a transitive verb:
She painted a picture nicely. Adverb of manner
Hamim met him yesterday. Adverb of time
b) Adverbs generally placed between helping verb and main verb. (Mainly
Adverb of frequency. Such as: always, never, seldom, rarely, usually, generally,
sometimes, frequently) Examples:
He always speaks the truth.
The have never come here.
A barking dog seldom bites.
I usually go to school on foot.
He rarely gets good marks.
You have often told him to come to my house.
e) If there are two or more Adverbs after verb in a sentence, the normal order
is Adverb of Manner, Place, and Time. (MPT) Examples:
