● Opportunity to engage in hands-on research experience at many
of the world's leading educational institutions

Amgen Scholars
● WHO:
○ Sophomores, Juniors, and returning Seniors
○ Need > 3.2 GPA
○ Looking for PhD/MD-PhD bound students
○ U.S. Citizens
● WHEN:
○ Different institutions have different dates
● APPLICATION TIMELINE
○ Feb. 1st/15th depending on the institution
REU
● Research opportunity through NSF which allows students to
participate in research at a host research institute
○ Many, many different locations (including UW + abroad)!

○ You must get these application materials through each
individual site
○ Undergraduate students supported with NSF funds must be
U.S. citizens or permanent residents
WA NASA Space Grant: SURP
● Opportunity to get paid for research at UW
○ Part time: 20 hrs/wk; 9 weeks; $2,500
○ Full time: 40 hrs/wk; 9 weeks; $5,000
● Applications due ~April 14th

● Eligible students must be U.S. citizens and WA residents

KIM HUA
● Internship:
○ 12+ weeks at Verathon
implementing FPGA neural
network, developing sensors,
and waaaay more!
● Fun Fact: I thought I could
photosynthesize like plants, but
instead I fell asleep outside in the sun
and later went to the ER for heat
stroke.
