ME 770: Experimental Methods in Fluid Mechanics

Experimental Methods in Fluid Mechanics introduces graduate students in the thermal sciences to
state-of-the-art experimental techniques for the investigation of fluid flow phenomena. The course
focuses on the measurement principles of common laboratory-based experimental techniques, practical
implementation and design of laboratory experiments, and limitations and interpretation of the
extracted data, including uncertainty analysis. Topics covered include uncertainty analysis, steady and
unsteady pressure measurement, velocity extraction techniques and data processing, and wall shear
stress measurement.
