Notes:
1. This course is designed around a hybrid concept of instruction and will consist of 1 hour outside of the
classroom and 2 hours inside. Students will be given access to videos, notes and additional online materials
during the 1 hour outside of class time. Students will be provided with the same files used in the demonstration
videos so that they will be able to follow along at their own pace. The 2 hour classroom instruction will consist of
a lecture, demonstration and hands on activities followed by a lab. Student collaboration will be encouraged.
2. Online only sections of this course will conduct all evaluation criteria (assignments, tests and projects) online
and in a time designated by the instructor.
3. An interim mark will be determined for all first year students to identify their academic progress. This mark will
be based on the results of Test 1 and assignments completed up to the mid-term date.
Files required for labs, out of class videos and other course-related information will be made available to students
through DC Connect.
It is the student's responsibility to complete all out of class activities assigned in DC Connect prior to arriving in class.
Regular attendance is highly recommended. It is the student's responsibility to notify their instructor if late or absent.
Conduct: All students are expected to act in a professional and respectful manner at all times. Smart phones and
other electronic devices may be used in class but must be muted and cannot be a distraction for any student.
Labs: Labs will be assigned in class after the lecture and in-class activities. All labs will be due prior to the beginning
of the next class. Late labs will receive a 10% deduction per day up to 3 days late (30%) at which point the lab will not
be accepted.
Tests: All tests will be written during the scheduled times. Should this not be possible, the student must notify the
faculty within 24 hours of the scheduled test time.
Students are expected to comply with all faculty and school specific policies and expectations as stated in their
course program material and class.
4. Course outlines should be retained for future needs (i.e. university credits, transfer of credits etc.)
6. Faculty are committed to ensuring accessible learning for all students. Students who would like
assistance with academic access and accommodations in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights
Code should register with the Access and Support Centre (ASC). ASC is located in room SW116,
