support of the Building Renovation Lottery as the next phase of the project approaches, remodel of the
Kitchen and Club room, targeted for February 2019.

Knights of Columbus 40th Annual Supper & Stag is January 20,2018. Doors open 4:30 pm, 5:00 pm Social

The Knights of Columbus would like to thank everyone for your continued support of our Biscuit and Gravy
breakfasts. Your support helps the Knights contribute to worthy charitable causes such as: Support for
seminarians (Nichols Ashmore and Matt Glazier) as they make their journey to Priesthood, Coats for Kids,
OHS Stuco class T-shirts and OHS Honor flight.

Please help spread the word about the Rural Youth Ministry Outreach event
coming to our region on Feb. 3 and 4th!!! Jason Evert will be talking to youth (7-12th) and the
adults that love them! Jason’s message of chastity is desperately needed in our world today. All are welcome nd
rural parishes will be eligible for grant money based on youth and adult attendance. Please check out

CCD NEWS

Our service project for January is the traveling crucifix for Vocation Awareness Month. We
encourage the parish to pray the Vocation Prayer inside the back cover of the misalette. We
also invite everyone to attend our prayer service on January 17th at 7:30 in the church. Thank
you and God Bless! ……………………5th grade CCD class and Phyllis Krueger

1st and 2nd grade CCD classes will sponsor a Valentine Service Project called “The
Chocolate Touch”. Senior members of our parish and community are invited to spend some
time with our students and enjoy some chocolate treats!! This activity will be held on
Wednesday, Feb. 7 during our CCD class time of 7:00-8:10 in the Knights Hall. ALL SENIOR
MEMBERS OF OUR ST. JOSEPH PARISH and OLPE COMMUNITY ARE INVITED. Please join us
and be our Special Valentines!

St. Anne’s Society quarterly meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 21 in the St. Joseph School
basement following mass. We encourage all members of St. Anne’s to attend including officers and
circle leaders. We are also seeking officers for 2018. It is a REWARDING experience and doesn’t
require too much of your time. Please give prayerful consideration and contact Kim Irwin ASAP if
interested! THANK YOU!!!

This year’s Archbishop’s Call to Share appeal has us reflect on being Called to Share.
Please prayerfully consider giving to the needs of our Archdiocese as we conduct the
2018 Archbishop’s Call to Share over the next six weeks. Our target this year at Olpe is
$12,805. Thank you if you have already made your gift to ACTS! If you haven’t yet,
please return your pledge envelope today or donate online at www.calltoshare.org.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hartford will hold their annual Beef
and Noodle Dinner on January 28 from 11:30-1:30 at the Neosho
Rapids Grade School Multipurpose Room. Menu includes
homemade beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad,
dessert, and drink. Adults are $8, children under 10 are $4. There
will be a drawing for lots of wonderful prizes as well. Get your
tickets at the door!

Marriage minute
Research tells us that children develop secure attachments to their parents when their needs are met
consistently over a long period of time. This repeated care leaves the children free to learn and grow in
a healthy way. As parents, we instinctively know this. Although it is not convenient to answer a child’s
cries at 3:00 am, we don’t think—we just do it because we know it is important! The same consistent
attention is needed for our spouse if our marriage is to be healthy. One need in marriage, especially for
wives, is to be heard. We would do well to have the disposition of Samuel in this weekend’s readings
when he tells God, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening!” For practical strategies on how to be a
