Event Name: Little Shop of Horrors

Event Location: Rio Americano

Event Date: May 13th, 2016

Please give a brief description of the event.

The event is attending the Readers Theater Performance at Rio Americano High School. During
the play, we witnessed many of the Rio Student’s applying their impressive acting skills into a
dark, yet humors, performance. The script was revolved around the remix version of Little Shop
of Horrors, where a plan that feasts on the blood of humans influences a weak minded florist
shop owner who is secluded from society because of his lack of confidence. In the actual movie,
the plant is killed because the shop owner gained enough confidence to defeat the evil plant. In
this version the plant is the contender over all people, leading to his worldwide rule of
bloodthirsty desire.

you are learning in school.

I have already been intrigued by theater, and seeing both versions of the play’s ending, I was
wondering about the acting skills of my fellow classmates, never having gone to a play before. I
can connect this event to my own personal life, because when growing up I never had a back
bone or the confidence to stand up for myself. I was swayed by the company that didn’t have
much care for my well-being, because I was only with them because I believed quantity was
better than quality. From seeing how the shop owner, although giving into the peer pressure of
the world, ultimately made a great sacrifice to save the one he loved. Even though he failed
miserably, in the end his selfless act portrayed that people can grow, making me reflect of the
growth of myself.
How did you like the event? Why? Would you recommend the event to a friend? Why or why
not?

Yes, I enjoyed the event because it was lovely finally witnessing and understanding how the
Reader’s Theater performs and seeing the talent of my fellow classmates. Not knowing of the
actors capabilities, it gave me another reason as to why I should be proud to be a Rio Americano
Student. I would recommend the event to a friend because it was full of light yet dark humor that
caused laughter, and overall, it was a very entertaining performance to witness. The acting was
flawless and the actors convey the characters perfectly, to where you understood their emotions,
background, and choices, through their acting.

Event Name: Crocker Art Museum

Event Location: Address: 216 O St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Event Date: May 15th, 2016

Please give a brief description of the event.

During the time I went, I walked around the Museum, being fascinated by old art and by new art.
I would usually venture around the second floor, where you are led up the red staircase and enter
a very regal time for artists. Depicting a variety of intricate detailed paintings involving a variety
of biblical references while others are example of the Renaissance styled paintings. When you
venture toward the other end of the Museum, the news addition, you enter other paintings and
sculptures put together in a well lighted room. You have African Cultural masks, pots designed
from Asian Ethnicities, as well as glass art, where a man rides a bull, the size ultimately defies
physics.

When at the Crocker Art Museum, you learn and witness the change of each piece of art.
Depending on the timeline and the culture that rides the creation, you are in awe of how those
factors play a huge role in the meaning, style, and creation of the art. The same goes with
writing, each author has a different style, a different background, and a different meaning for
each text that he/she writes. Through Literature Class, we analyze and understand the reasonings
of why they created it, how they created it, and the message that is conveyed after reading the
piece of literature. From learning that type of analyzation, I was able to apply it into the way I
saw the painting at the Crocker Art Museum and was able to analyze each one before I read the
artist’s description of his/her art piece.

How did you like the event? Why? Would you recommend the event to a friend? Why or why
not?

I loved it, the Crocker is a place I go regularly to find peace and tranquility and to clear my mind.
Yes, i recommend it because it is a place of intellect and beauty, where you can relax through
simple fascination as you witness the beauty of the paintings, all in all, revealing itself to be
something that is both a vibrant environment.
