Steps for importing .

csv files in MS Excel Spreadsheet

1. Open a new MS Excel Spreadsheet;

2. In MS-Excel 97-2003, choose “Import Text File” option in “Get External


Data” under “Data”;

In MS-Excel 2007, choose “From Text” option in “Get External Data” Tab
under “Data”;

3. "Import Text File" dialogue box will appear to choose the file;

4. Select the .csv file to be converted in to Excel and click on “Import” button;

5. Choose the file type ‘Delimited’ [click on the radio button) and click on
“Next” button;

6. Check box with various delimiters will appear on the screen;

7. Select [click on] “Other:” check box from the Delimiters;

8. Enter the delimiter in the blank box provided next to “Other:”

Mostly, delimiter will be either character ‘comma’ [ , ] or ‘pipeline’ [ | ]

, as delimiter | as delimiter

9. Click on “Next” button;

10. Data Preview screen will appear. Then, click on “Finish” button;

11. "Import Data" dialogue box will appear. Click on "OK" button;

12. The data will be imported on to spreadsheet. Save the MS Excel Document
with a suitable File Name.
