Your honor, Our family is still grieving and still haven’t fully grasp to what
happen to my beloved niece Kiana and nephew Corey. My sister Regina cries
almost daily about her children being murdered so senselessly and all I could
do is cry with her because | just don’t have the answer to why this had to
happen to her babies. I wish I can take away her pain. It hurts to even talk
about the good times we shared with them knowing we’ II never have those
moments again. I don’t wish this hurt and pain on anyones family including
the family of the convicted murderers. No family should have to endure what
we’ve endured. Me and my sister Regina Lost a brother named Corey to gun
violence on October 6, 1994 same year Kiana was born February 20, 1994
sweet little cry baby is what I’d call her. 2 years later, Here comes a curly
head little cute face baby boy born November 1, 1996 who we named Corey
after our deceased brother. To know that he was killed in the same manner and
same month as our beloved brother breaks our hearts even more. Just know
that October is a bitter sweet month for our family. | watched my sister give
birth to all of her children. Kiana and Corey was her last 2 babies and just the
thought of knowing these people ended their life for absolutely no reason is
insane. Kiana was one of the sweetest nieces with a big heart you could ever
imagine and unfortunately Kiana having a big heart caused her, her brother and
friend’s life. At the time of this tragic event, Corey was so happy and patiently
awaiting the arrival of his adorable baby girl whom he never got the chance to
meet and she’ll never have the chance to know her father physically because of
them. Corey was the too cool nephew. He loved to look good, loved his family
and also friendly. As a matter of fact the words that were spoken from the one
who pulled the trigger quote unquote “Corey was a good boy” “Corey was like
a brother to him” It had to be a animal who took Corey’s life. Only to find out
that he was the animal who took Corey’s life, never like a brother to him and
Corey must have not been good enough because Corey’s life meant nothing to
him who put 3 bullets in Corey, 2 in his sister and 4 in their friend Alexis. I
1didn’t know Alexis but I’ve heard nothing but good things about her
character. Our heart hurts for her family as well.
Your honor, We the family of Kiana and Corey pray that you have no mercy
on sentencing these 3 people for committing such a horrific crime. Please don’t
allow them them to ever see outside of the prison walls again. We forgive them
but we will never forget. I pray that the Lord have mercy upon their souls on
judgement day but you your honor have none on this day. Although the
sentence that will be imposed will not bring them back but it’lI help ease some
of the pain that we’ve endured since Oct 22, 2015 and knowing that Kiana,
Corey and Alexis received the Justice that they deserve. Please don’t give them
another chance to commit another heinous crime and leave another family
hurting like we are. They had and showed no remorse then and now. They can
still see, touch and talk with their love ones. Unfortunately we can’t do the
same with Kiana and Corey because of their actions. Please punished them to
the fullest extent so that everyday they are reminded that Kiana, Corey and
Alexis did not deserve to be murdered by them but deserved to live, love,
enjoy life and be with their love ones as well.
God bless!
Sent from my iPhoneOn October 22, 2015, my life was turned upside down. There are two pieces of
paper a mother should have on her child that will last a lifetime: a birth certificate
and a social security card. | am trying to understand why | have a death certificate. ¢
Alexis was a few months from walking across the stage in her cap and gown. Instead
she was buried in it. Not only did you destroy the life of an innocent person, you
destroyed the future for that person, because she had nothing to do with this. This
wasn’t God’s will, this was the will of three persons.
Who gave them the right to play God? Alexis was a faithful member of First Mount
Bethel Baptist Church, where she sang in the Youth Choir, and worked with the
Willing Workers. Her favorite song was “Lord, whatever you do in the season, don’t
do it without me.” | provided for Alexis, but she took care of me. YOU TOOK THAT
FROM ME. It was hard losing her, but it is even harder living without her.
It is my prayer that these three receive the maximum sentence possible, so that
they will never have the opportunity to destroy another family like they have done
to my family and our friends.
