LESSON PLAN

(Subject: SCIENCE)

Form : 4 Topaz
Day : Monday
Date : 28th March 2016
Time : 9.15 a.m. to 10.25 a.m. (70 minutes)
Subject : Science
Topic : Matter and Substances
Subtopics : 4.1 Changes in the States of Matter
Main Concepts : States of Matter
Key Words : Kinetic theory of matter, solid, liquid, gases
Aim : Students are able to understand the kinetic theory of matter and relate
it to the properties of each state of matter
Learning Objectives : At the end lesson, students should be able:
1. To state the four points of the kinetic theory of matter
2. Name the three states of matter
3. State the processes that are involve the change in state of matter namely, meting,
boiling, condensation, freezing and sublimation
4. Explain the process of diffusion in each state of matter

Thinking Skills : Relating, analysing, predicting

Teaching Methods : 1. Discussion with students
2. Demonstration
Teaching Aids : 1. Textbook
2. Science Process Skills, Form 4
3. Student participation
Hypothesis : The properties of matter can be explained by using the kinetic theory
matter. It states that:
Matter is made of atoms
Particles undergo continuous motion and collide with one
another
There are forces of attraction between particles
Movement increases with temperature.
