Question 1:
Differentiate briefly the different kinds of printers mentioned in your textbook?

Answer:-
There are two main types of printers:-
1): Impact printers
2): Non impact printers

Impact printers:-
They create an image by striking a pin or a hammer to press the ink ribbon against the paper.

Non impact printers:-

These printers use other means to create an image. They do not strike the paper.

Question 2:
CS100 FUNDAMENTALS OF ICT

Briefly describe four important factors that can be used to indicate better quality for printers?

Image quality:-
Print quality is also known as print resolution, is measured in dots per inch (dpi). Printers with
greater dpi produce the image with greater quality.

Example:-
Medium quality inkjet & laser printers can print 300 to 600 dpi.

Speed:-
Printers speed is measured in the number of pages per minute (ppm). Most printers have
different ppm ratings for texts and graphics.

Example:-
Common laser printers offer speed of 6 or 8 ppm.

Initial cost:-
It is possible to buy a good quality inkjet printer in $100. The minimum price of professional
quality printers is $1000.

Cost of operation:-
The cost of ink or toner and maintenance varies with type of printers. Cost of operation of dot
matrix is the lowest.
