 The Future of Education.

We are now halfway through the year 2017 and we are now witnessing an incredible
and wonderous advancement in many aspects such as technological advancement and cultural
development. A company called Tesla had developed and marketed a self driving car with
stellar features such as crash prevention which essentially predicts a collision around the
vehicle and reacts to avoid the collision before it happened. Other than that , a French
neuroscientist had discovered a way to cure paralysis. All these wonderous advancement
were here because of the knowledge acquired by human beings throughout the years are
taught to the current generation through educational institutions all around the world. Ever
since 500 A.D the humans have been implementing formal educations to enhance the current
knowledge that they had for the sake of a better future. However if the educational system
applied since 500 A.D was still used until today , we may not get to where we are today .
Hence the educational system evolved throughout the years to increase the efficiency of
learning. Technology also began to be implemented to increase and enhance the learning
experience . This shows us that the advancement of the human race in the future depends
highly on the advancement of the education today. Hence this makes us wonder what does
the future of education may look like?

At the early age of education, the students who were schooled were mostly royal
offsprings , sons of the rich and the professionals such as the physician and scribes. They
were to be taught of their fathers trade or made apprentice to learn a trade. Then knowledge
began to become a need and everyone pursued for an education. Nowadays, young students
came to study generally standardized subjects and would only be able to choose a specific
interest when they are older. The students we saw in the past was far different from the
students we see today. So we can expect the students of the future would be different. The
students in the future will be on a much more flexible learning path as they can determine
their interest at an early age and may focus on that for their education. The young students
can set their own timetables and set their own projects for studies. This will later produce
students are more expert in a certain field, self-driven and more skill oriented rather than only
memorizing theories .Other than that, in the future, student may be able to approach their
assignments in their own learning style which means there will be no limitiation on how the
assignment should be presented. They can present it via slide shows or build a model to show
something works ,hence, increasing the capability of creative thinking among students.
Students in the past do not have certificates to certify their knowledge like we see on our
students today . Certifications are used nowadays as a proof of knowledge, however , in the
future, these certifications would be replaced with digital portfolio which contains all the
students achievements, projects and work products as a form of proof to their knowledge and
skills.

Ever since the beginning of education, students and teachers in the past have used
many objects or tools to aid in the learning process. The Greek used to use wax board to write
down notes and knowledge which can later be heated up to erase the writing. The students
and teachers in the Middle East used to use palm leaves and animal skin to write on. These
methods are not practical as the knowledge written was easily lost. This leads to the use of
paper and nowadays we are starting to see more content are written digitally. This is one of
the example of the enhancement of technology used in the past to aid the education process.
The technology was evolving fast but there are ideas of how would the technology be
implemented in the days ahead. Firstly, application of augmented reality would be for
education is to be looked forward. Augmented reality is a virtual world with ability to interact
with it close like the real world. This technology will be a great teaching aid as it expands
means of educations to a vast variety. A simple example, the classroom could be your
bedroom since augmented reality could replace a traditional classroom into a virtual one. This
will truly aid the unfortunate students who were incapable to get to classes due to illness like
leg-paralysis to experience classroom like everyone else and do not miss any educational
opportunity. The application of this technology may result in a more virtual educational
environment in the future which is a good thing. Other than that, the future of education may
be paper-free as the digital form of content subtitutes the use printed paper and digital devices
would replace pens and books as tools of writing. Hence having assignments in digital
content would ease the educational process as all assignments can be submitted and checked
in real time. This shows how tehnology may be applied for education in the future.
 In an eductation system, the teacher plays the main role in every aspect of learning. In
the past, anyone known to be good at something qualifies to be a teacher for that particular
field. However teachers today are properly educated and trained on to be qualified to teach in
the formal education system. Teachers are trained to be able to cope with any student
situation and enable them to ensure the knowledge got to the students. This particular skillset
for the teachers would maintained and enhance for the future. Teachers would be more
skilled in using technologies to aid their lectures and approach students in a way so that
young students will be able comfortable to use technologies in their learning and ensure older
students would be able to can fully optimise the technologies available. With the technologies
available in the future, the teachers will be able to teach around the globe rather than just
locally . This will enable teachers to deliver contents of knowledge at a more global scale
rather than just locally. The teachers will also encourage students to be more self-driven in
discovering knowledge rather than pointing out everything. This will help to produce students
who are more proactive and independent. The teachers will implement this by giving project
based studies rather than simply handing out written homeworks. This will give an insight on
how the teacher would be in the future.

One of the main keys through any level of learning is the knowledge itself. The
knowledge that was aquired throughtout the years of studies was passed down through
education and was the further enhanced by the ones who studied it . Hence in the future , the
knowledge that we have today would far more advanced and refined for the future students to
study and with the technologies available at the future , the knowledge will be overflowing
through all platform across the web. On that day , knowledge was no longer limited for
students of a certain school only, the knowledge would be available for everyone to study.
This open knowledge sharing concept is not yet fully applied today but is to be expected of
the future since the world would be developing faster then and will demand much more from
the society so knowledge need to be reaily available for everyone. Other than that, students
just need to watch pre-recorded lectures to gain additional knowledge on a subject other than
their path of interest. This will promote students with a much wider skillset and not just good
at a particular field only. Other than that ,in the future , the knowledge acquired by the
students will not only be tested through written examinations but mainly through applications
of knowledge in project based assignments, hence, making students understands the
applications of knowledge better than reading.
 Summarising the above, in the future, we will see better and more independent
students , advanced technology to enhance and widens the means of teaching, more
encouraging teachers and an open knowledge sharing concept that will shape the future of
education. Imagine if the world stopped developing new ideas and knowledge , then the
world will stunted and now new developments were discovered. That is why these
advancement is important for the future so that we can ensure the future generation will be
able to keep the world moving forward and overall make the world a better place. Maybe
some of the predictions that we discussed hadalready been seen now and this is a good sign.
This means that we are heading towards the right direction for the future of education and
after taking a peek at the possibilities of the future , we cant help but to look forward for a
great future in education.

Approach students in a way that student be comfortable with technologies

Information is flowing through the web

Knowledge is not limited to student of a certain school only
Other than classes, student can pursue more knowledge by watching
prerecorded lectures.
Not tested through exams but through applications in projects

Some of these predictions may be already seen now

This is good sign means we are heading towards the right future
And after taking a peek at the possiblities of the future , we see we are indeed
a great future for education
