1.

Enter the CAM workspace


by selecting the
workspace dropdown on
the left side of the toolbar
and choosing CAM

2. Choose the Tool Library

3. Use the Library Tree


button to show the list of
current tool libraries
Document Library: the tools
used in the Fusion design, so
anybody who opens the
design has access to the
tools. These libraries are only
shown for open Fusion
designs
Cloud Library: A tool library
tied to my Fusion account, so
no matter where I sign in, I
have access to those tools.
Sample Library: Tools
meant to be used as samples
while trying Fusion. Sample
libraries and tools are not
able to be edited or removed
Vendor Library: Tools
organized by vendor, tools
from supported vendors can
simply be selected rather
than created from scratch.
Local Library: Manually
created libraries stored
locally on the hard drive, so
anyone who logs into Fusion
using that computer can also
access them

Check boxes indicate that a


library is enabled and will
appear when selecting tools.

4. Click on the Local


header to ensure your
library is created as a
locally stored library. If
you want to create a
Cloud library, click the
Cloud header instead

5. Use the New Library


command to generate a
new Local tool library
6. Name the new library

7. Create a new milling tool


8. Select the type of tool to
create

Note: Custom or form tools


are not currently supported

9. Enter some information


about that tool like the
material, the tool units,
and the number of flutes

Note: The number of flutes


will be used in calculating the
feed per tooth, so ensure
accuracy
Optional: Enter vendor
information about the tool

10. Enter diameter


dimensions. Fusion 360
will update the model as
dimensions are entered,
and highlight the section if
applicable
11. Enter length
dimensions. Note that all
lengths are measured
from the tip of the tool.
Fusion 360 highlights the
relevant portion of the
model

12. Move on to the Shaft


tab. If the tool contains
complex shaft geometry
like tapers, add a section
using the Add button

13. Enter the height, upper


diameter, and lower
diameter of the shaft
section.

To remove geometry
sections, select anywhere in
the row to remove and select
the Delete button
14. Enter the Holder Tab.
Click Select Holder to
open the Holder Selection
window

15. Select the desired


holder and click OK to
apply the holder to the
current tool
16. Enter the Feed and
Speed Tab. Enter the
spindle speed and
feedrate parameters (1).
Surface Speed and Feed
per Tooth are
automatically calculated.
Values can also be
entered here to calculate
spindle speed and
feedrate (2). Plunge
speed and feed are at the
bottom of the page (3).

17. Enter the Post


Processor Tab. Set the
tool number, and make
sure that the Length and
Diameter offset values are
correct.

Optional: Add a comment to


be posted when the tool is
called
18. Repeat these steps for
all tools in the library
19. Save a copy of the tool
library outside of the
Fusion install directory by
selecting Export and
choosing a save location

20. To access tool


commands, select a tool
and right-click. The Edit,
Renumber, and Delete
commands are also
available in the toolbar.
