We will first start by showing the BrainPOP video Division. The students will already have an
idea of what it is since it was covered in previews classes, but this video will help refresh their
memory. As the students are watching the video on the projector screen, iPad will be handed
over to each student based on their seat number. Students will be asked to keep their ears open
for vocabulary words since we will go over them right after the video.

Once the video is done playing each student will turn on their iPad and head over to the link
provided by the teacher. The link will be to the same video they just watched but instead of
watching the video again the students will head over to the Activities section. Students will
have three activities to work on, and they will work in groups of five to complete such activities.
After the groups have completed the activities they will save it to their iPad and upload it to the
classroom website. There is a page in the classroom website where its labeled Todays work,
this is where as a group they will upload their files.
The teacher will check to see if the work is correct as the students move on to their next activity.
The next activity will be using the SMART Board. Each group of students will write down one
division problem on the board. Then they will select a random problem that is not created by
them and work on it using visuals. For example: one student might write the problem 10010=x
and the students will have to make visual representations such as Since 100 is being divided by
10, I will use this apple to represent the quantity of 10. So, If I have 10 of these apples, then I
have 100, because each apple is worth 10. If I divide by ten then that means that 10010= 10.
Students can also show a web, diagrams, graphs, or anything that will visualize the quantities.
Each problem will be saved, printed and posted on the walls as a reminder of how many ways
there are to solve a division problem. After the students are done with this part of the activity
they will be handed back their group activities with feedback.
