The Kalmar Ottawa 4x2 Off Road terminal tractor model is designed and constructed
to operate in seaport and intermodal terminals handling container trailers. The main
features of an Ottawa 4x2 tractor are high tractive effort, good maneuverability and
reliability based on the utilization of first class components, long experience in the
industry and close collaboration with loyal customers.

This is an in-line, six-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine with direct fuel injection and
a heavy-duty radiator. The engine is built with a high degree of precision to
withstand high output while corresponding to high demands on operational safety

torque converter assembly mounted directly to the engine.

- Built-in inhibitors prevent downshifts or shifts into reverse unless speed is at low
RPMs.

MAXIMIZER POWERTRAIN SYSTEM

Starting with tractors assembled from January 2 nd, 2012 in the USA only, the
standard Kalmar Ottawa 4x2 Off Road tractor now has the Maxi-Mizer Powertrain
System as a standard feature.

This includes:

Electronic speed governing in the Cummins QSB6.7 engines in lieu of gear-

binding.
Load Based Shift Schedule (LBSS) programmed in the Allison transmission,
which senses the load and changes gear positions for better economy.
Allisons Reduced Load at Stop (RELS), which reduces parasitic losses, is
also programmed.

This new feature results in 10% or more fuel savings, as experienced by fleets.

AXLES AND WHEELS

Front Axle: Meritor FF-961, 45 steering angle with gearbox type integral power
steering & mechanical back up; pneumatic S-cam brakes. Front suspension: semi-
elliptic leaf springs. 5.5 ton (12,000 lbs.) rating at 25 km/h (6.6t, 9t & 10t optional).

Rear Axle: Meritor MOR32 off-highway, double-reduction, single-speed;

12.27:1 ratio (10.67:1 & 16.88:1 ratios optional), pneumatic S-cam brakes. Rear
axle rigidly mounted to chassis frame. 32 ton (70,000 lbs.) rating at 25 km/h.
Currently not designed for air suspension.

CABIN

The Ottawa/Kalmar cabin is a one person, left or right-hand drive cab constructed of
welded steel mounted on anti-vibration rubber mountings in front and an air suspension
unit at the rear. Roof is flat with a 1438 mm normal, interior height (cabin floor to ceiling).

It is designed to provide maximum visibility, low noise levels, excellent comfort and
ergonomics for the driver. For easy servicing, the cabin has an integrated, curbside hood
for daily maintenance checks. For more extensive maintenance work, an electric over
hydraulic pump system will allow the cabin to be tilted 45. Standard color is white.
Kalmar red is a no-cost option.

CHASSIS

The all-welded steel chassis has been designed to withstand the toughest of
applications.
- 50,000 psi steel with 12 x 3 3/8 x 3/8 (305 mm x 86 mm x 9.5 mm) formed
channel; 43.25 (1099 mm) wide frame with L-frame reinforcement.
- 110/2794 mm std. wheel base (116/2946 mm & 122/3099 mm optional)
- Sturdy, bolted front bumper.
- 3-step battery box access on drivers side of chassis, coupled with heavy-duty
grab handle, provides easy access to and from the cabins rear door entrance;
rear deck and access steps have anti-slip surfaces.
- Integral front hook & rear tow eyes.
- Standard color is black for the chassis & bumper; except platform, steps and
grab handles are painted safety yellow. All black chassis is a no-cost option.

COMPRESSED AIR SYSTEM
