that was all really new to me. This year, having

in with a totally different attitude.
Louise, who spends ten to 15-hours in the gym per

I was happy and relieved, despite not hitting my

Competitions are really tough - not just

personal goals rather than medals; but this sport is
about conquering your fears so it was a wonderful
experience to compete internationally again.
Toni and Louise train up to six-days a week, with
sessions ranging from one to two-and-a-half hours
and alternating between a gym in Bacchus Marsh
and the Geelong Weightlifting Club.
Toni said she really enjoyed the challenge of
pushing herself.

Darley Cricket Club

By Shaun Kelly

The super storm that was forecast over the weekend meant
that Darleys cricketers enjoyed an unscheduled weekend
away from the pitch.
Both the Ballarat Cricket Association and Melton Junior
Cricket Association made the call on Friday to cancel all
cricket for the weekend given the impending forecast, and
whilst the storm didnt end up being as ferocious as first
thought, the cancellation was a wise move given the water
laying around and constant showers on Saturday morning
that would have made conditions unplayable.
As a result, Darleys senior teams all receive three points for a
drawn game, and are all back in action this coming weekend.
Darleys First XI play ladder-leaders Golden Point in a
crucial two-day fixture at Darley Park their last before the
Christmas break, whilst the Second XI play local rivals Ballan
and the Third XI play East Ballarat. The Lions One Day side
takes on Napoleons-Sebastopol at the Hub in their next-to-
last game of the 2017 portion of the fixture.
The two junior sides in the BCA, the 16 & Under and 14 &
Under First XI were both due to play the first day of a two-
day game, so their games against Ballarat-Redan at the Hub
and Brown Hill at Brown Hill respectively will continue next
Saturday as one-day games.
Darleys Under 14 team in the MJCA had a bye over the last
fortnight, and theyll start a two-day game against Melton
at Masons Lane Reserve next Saturday, their last before
Christmas, whilst the Under 12 side had the first day of their

continue as a one-day game next week.
