When I applied for high school I wanted to be in the best in town and take advantage of my

mathematical abilities, so I applied for a math-computer science class. Here I met an

enthusiastic teacher who had shared with us some of her passion for computers. Out then I
had some basic knowledge about computers but she was the one to help me learn more and
discover my passion for computers.

What convinced me to want to study at your university in the International Computer Science
class was the emphasize on hands-on learning and the possibility of learning more than
theory. More than that, in the perspective of working or even managing an IT company,
business knowledge would be a great opportunity for me.

Last summer I had a one week internship at Continental Automotive in the Human Resources
department where I was responsible with editing a training manual for the new employed. I
was introduced to the Research department, where the new products were developed and the
building technology improved, and I was amazed by what working in a big company means,
organization, each having his own responsibility, respect and teamwork.

When the first session of communication at the University “Lucian Blaga ” Sibiu took place I
participated with two projects, one with Data Modeling about “Environmental Friendly
Technologies” and the other one about the “Graph Theory in Visual C++”. Both got the first
prize but more important that the prizes is the fact that I met more experienced students and
the universitary atmosphere made me want to study computer science even more.

Another activity that helped me develop the way I am and thus enhance my abilities was the
Yearbook of 2008 – 2009. As chief editor I had to find a team and together had to design the
whole yearbook. At first I wanted to do all on my own because I didn’t trust the others will do
the same task as good as me. At some point I got overwhelmed, and then I realized I can’t do
it all by myself and with the help of my team we pulled it off successfully .

My first experience abroad was the Plato Project “Cooperation across borders”. In every one
of the three years I have participated the theme was different. The first one took place in
Landshut Germany and the theme was “Zirkus Europa”. This was a chance for me to express
my acting skills in a pantomime number, very appreciated by the audience. Next year the
project took place in Karlsruhe Germany and the theme was “LEGO 2008 Mindstorm
Robots” ,my favorite theme of all, where we had to build and program robots to perform
different tasks. Last year in Sibiu the project was about environmental problems. We were
divided in multinational workshops and we had to study different parts of the environment or
sustainable technologies. I was selected by the group to be the team leader and managed to
study on field the infrastructure of Paltinis Resort and find solutions to improve it.
What I liked the most was the fact that I had the opportunity to meet people from four
different countries Germany, Austria, Denmark and Romania, all with different cultures and
still managed to get along, have fun and even make friends.

I look forward to learning in an international academic environment and I believe that your
course will give me the necessary foundation for becoming a successful programmer and IT
entrepreneur.
