Spy Agencies Active in Iranian Universities

2010-08-30 04:12:32 - Nksagar -Sagar Media - Iranian Minister of Science, Resear

ch, and Technology Kamran Daneshjoo warned on Sunday that the spy agencies of se
veral enemy states are striving hard to infiltrate and influence the country's a
cademic centers.
"â ¦enemies are trying to change the Islamic atmosphere of the universities
into their own favorite atmosphere of liberal-democracy and to give a new defini
tion for Islamic values based on their own views," Daneshjoo said.
The Iranian minister further reminded the alarming remarks of the Supreme Leader
about the continued efforts made by the enemy spy agencies to influence Iranian
university students, and stated, "How can one rest under such conditions? Enemi
es are active in this regard because they have realized the importance of univer
sities."
Iran's Deputy Police Chief Ahmad Reza Radan blamed the country's eastern
neighbors for their negligent approach towards the spread of terrorism in the re
gion, and urged them to boost security measures along their shared borders with
Iran.
Last year, Supreme Leader's Representative to the universities Hojjatoleslam Moh
ammad Mohammadian said those seeking to spark a velvet revolution in Iran have h
atched special plots to start a regime change plan from the universities for the
y view the country's academic centers as their strategic field of activity."It i
s natural that in our society and many other societies, universities are the cen
ters of thinking and understanding. Hence, those seeking a soft overthrow of the
Islamic Republic naturally view universities as the strategic domain of their a
ctivity as much as we attach importance to universities for the consolidation of
the tenets of the Islamic Revolution," Mohammadian said on August 29, 2009.Noti
ng that the atmosphere of the Iranian universities is popular, Mohammadian reite
rated that the country's academic centers have acted in complete coordination wi
th the nation all throughout the last 30 years since the onset of the Islamic Re
volution in Iran.
"If enemies of the Islamic Republic succeed in making our universities devoid of
their popular atmosphere, then they will succeed in attaining their goals."
"But we believe that their efforts have failed and yielded no success," he added
.
On Aug 28 | In an editorial today in Kayhan, Hossein Shariatmadari criticized la
st week's Friday prayers sermon by Tehran's Provisional Friday Prayers Leader, H
ojjatoleslam Kazem Sediqi, for lacking clarity and giving "enemies" like BBC ana
lysts something with which to criticize the government.
Shariatmadari, editor-in-chief and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameinei's repr
esentative at Kayhan newspaper, said part of Sediqi's speech had been intentiona
lly misinterpreted by foreign media and the "leaders of the sedition," referring
to the opposition leaders. He chastised the cleric for not stating his intentio
ns more clearly.
In his sermon, Sediqi asked the audience to mend ties with the people who "came
apart from the political system." Shariatmadari mocked a BBC analysis which cite
d Sediqi's speech as a sign of the authorities' failure to put an end to the pos
t-election unrest and a conciliatory gesture toward reformists to improve relati
ons with them.
Referring to Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi as "Israel's representatives
in Iran" and accomplices of the United States, Shariatmadari wrote, "Virtuous p
eople will never take as friends those who are the enemy of God and his Prophet,
" citing the Quran. Unity, he continued, meant the darkening of the borders betw
een friends and foes. He concluded his editorial by demanding punishment for tho
se who have committed crimes.
