A Peek At The Sunday Sermon

And He Shall Be Called: Wonderful!

Isaiah 9:2-7

A few days ago, I was listening to a portion of Handels Messiah, performed

by the London Symphony Orchestra. Its a 4-minute clip on YouTube,
featuring the choir, singing For unto us a child is born.

More than a classical piece of music - Handels Messiah is a spiritual

expression of the truth of Jesus Christ Son of God! And hearing the choir
sing Scripture so beautifully it touched my heart.

On Sunday, we will be exploring this verse of Scripture that Handel

incorporated in his musical masterpiece. May the same words touch your
heart as we begin the Advent Season at Dearborn Congregational Church!
See you at 10 AM for Sunday Worship!
Advent is a season of spiritual preparation for the
celebration of the birth of Christ. Purple, the color of
royalty, is Advents liturgical color for the four Sundays
leading up to Christmas Eve and the Christmas Season.

Our suggested Scripture reading for December 3rd, from the 2017 UCC
Church Calendar:

1 Corinthians 1:3-9 (NLT)

St. Paul Gives Thanks to God
3
May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and
peace. 4 I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he
has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus. 5 Through him,
God has enriched your church in every way with all of your eloquent
words and all of your knowledge. 6 This confirms that what I told you
about Christ is true. 7 Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you
eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

8
He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all
blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. 9 God will do
this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into
partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Pastor Kren Update
My name has been on our prayer list for some time. Here is a brief update
on my physical wellbeing!
This past week I completed my fourth chemotherapy treatment at U of M
Hospital in Ann Arbor. Because this cancer treatment lowered my blood
count, it was necessary that I received a blood transfusion. The procedure
took place the following day. In a few weeks, Ill have a CT Scan that will
determine the progress Im making in this battle against cancer. Right now
I feel pretty good! Thank you for all your prayers and well-wishes! I believe
God is doing a good work in me - and Ill be around for awhile longer
preaching the Good news!
