Peruana Cayetano Heredia (HUPCH).
Orchids represent over 80% of all vascular epiphytes, also play a fundamental role in the
dynamics of tropical forests. Peru has a wide diversity of this family, about 2800 species.
In the south tropical forest of the country there are important references of this diversity,
such as the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and Manu National Park, however, there
is not exists a preliminary list of orchids at Amarakeri Communal Reserve, the insufficient
information on the flora of this family and the imminent demise of the forests of the eastern
slope of this Protected Natural Area due to gold mining, the main economic activity in the
sector, are sufficient reasons to motivate the realization of this research whose main
objective was to determine the generic diversity of the family Orchidaceae in Setapo
Sector.
The field phase took place during the months of May and June of this year in the buffer
zone of the RCA-Sector Setapo located in the district of Huaypetue, Manu province,
department of Madre de Dios. The collection was performed by the classical method of
data taking habit, habitat, photographs, drawings and measurements for better
identification. The collected material was deposited in the Herbarium of the Universidad
Mayor de San Marcos (USM) and the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (HUPCH).
su diversidad y abundancia disminuyen en paisajes alterados (Borgo& Silva, 2003;
Elias et al., 2006; Rogalski & Zanin, 2003).
AREA DE ESTUDIO
MATERIALES Y METODOS
