Concert Review

Walking into the Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble concert, I was quite not

sure if I would like it or not. I ended up being very impressed with the orchestras work. I

never enjoyed listening to symphonies but it started off to be very intense which caught

my attention.

The venue of the concert was a perfect fit to the music they were playing. The

concert was being placed at the Asplundh Concert Hall. This concert hall is very fancy

and sets a mood for the audience. The stage was huge which was perfect for the 50

musicians on stage. They were well spread out and not crammed all together.

In the Asplundh concert hall, it would be expected that the audience would be

more dressed up for the venue. But however, there was not a certain dress code. Some

people were dressed up and others werent. The musicians on stage were dressed in all

black which fit well with the scenes. The audience consisted of mostly parents or old

adults. There were a couple few young adults in the audience but, older adults took up

the seats more.

The concert was played by two different conductors, M. Gregory Martin and

Andrew J. Yozviak. M. Gregory Martin was the conductor for the Wind Symphony,

which started off the concert. The three songs that the bands played had very

consistent genres put to it. T he first song was Crown Imperial, A coronation March. I

enjoyed the opening of the concert, the first song was very fast and intense. Then it
leads to a sort of climax which consisted of most of the instruments being used. The

second song was Come, Sweet Death which was a German folk song. This part was a

single melody with a bass that was figured which meant it the harmony would be

combined with the bass. The harmonization was played mostly through a single

keyboard player which stood out the most.

Andrew J.Yozviak was the conductor of the Wind Esemble, which consisted of three

songs also. The was
