Register Now for Bricks 4 Kidz After-School Classes

Bricks 4 Kidz is pleased to announce we will be offering after-school classes at Spring Park Elementary
School. Classes follow the Bricks 4 Kidz motto:
We Learn, We Build, We Play with LEGO Bricks.

When: Mondays from November 6 to December 18 (excluding Nov 13 holiday)

Time: 2:45-3:45pm
Who: Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6; Maximum of 16 students and a minimum of 10 students
required to run the class
Cost: $75/student (tax included) for the six week session

Many children dream of being an astronaut and traveling to space, so Bricks 4 Kidz created an entire unit
around space! Each week, students will learn about real-life space exploration and build a new model
related to the NASA space program. Models include a satellite, a lunar module, a centrifuge which
astronauts use to prepare for the physical sensations of launch, a treadmill which astronauts use to stay fit
in space, and a space robot. During this unit, students will learn some of the science behind launching
things into orbit, will hear about the most-distant man-made object in the universe, and discuss what it is
like to be an astronaut in space. Are you a budding astronaut? An adventurer who loves space
exploration? Then youll love our Space theme projects. Well be building NASA astronaut training
equipment, a space robot and more in this exciting six week session. Let Bricks 4 Kidz launch your
imagination to outer-space and beyond!

We will also be looking for a parent volunteer to assist with the classes. In exchange, the parent volunteer
will have the registration fee waived for their child. Parent volunteers must have a completed criminal
background check and be permitted to work in the schools.

Home and School

Spooktacular
The schools first big event, Spooktacular, is taking place on October 18th and like other years, there will
be a bake sale run by the Home and School as a school fundraiser. This was a huge hit last year and
hopefully will be again!
Therefore, we would really appreciate any bakers (even non-bakers too) to donate some goodies for this
great event. Everything is welcome; muffins, cookies, squares, biscuits, fudge etc. in package of four or
less as each package is sold for $1.00. Just please make sure that items are nut free.
We also need volunteers at the bake sale to sell the goodies. There will be a table set up for the entire
event (5-7 pm) and if you could give your time that would be super helpful! We ask that you pop in to
volunteer for a half hour sometime throughout the event. A sign-up sheet will go home with your
children.
All items can be dropped off on the 17th or the 18th prior to the event at the office.

Nominations for Executive Positions

We are still looking for nominations to fill two executive positions for the Spring Park Home and School
Association: (1) President; and (2) Vice-President. We are also looking for members for our Health and
Nutrition Committee as well as our Canadian Parents for French Committee. If you are interested in any
of these positions, please email Leslie Cudmore at lesliehartling@eastlink.ca.

Breakfast Program
After a successful pilot program last year, we are pleased to begin our breakfast program this Thursday,
October 5th. We will be serving smoothies for breakfast once per week, typically on Friday unless there is
a PD Day. Smoothies are prepared and served by parent volunteers. If you would like to be added to the
volunteer list to receive the electronic sign-up sheet, please email lesliehartling@eastlink.ca.

Next Meeting
To find out about the above items and more, please come to the Home and School meeting to be held on
Wednesday, October 11th, from 6:30-8pm in the Library.

Many thanks, Spring Park Home and School!
