d. Activity Description

1. Participants will divide into two teams and line up across from each other with a few

feet in between. There will be at home line at each end of the room. One team are the

crows and the other is the cranes. If cranes are shouted out by the instructor, the cranes

team must run to their home line without getting tagged by the crows team. Any

participant that gets tagged must join the cranes team and vise versa. If crabs are

shouted out everyone must stand still. Any participant that moves must join the

opposing team. The game ends when one team has all the participants.

o e. Primary interaction pattern(s) This activity has an intergroup pattern which is the action

of a competitive nature between two or more intergroups.

f. I can adapt this activity for children with autism. Autism Spectrum Disorders are associated

with intellectual and language disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and motor

abnormalities (Autism). This activity can help improve gross motor skills as well as improve
their endurance. I can modify this activity by adding the use of visual aids, such as having

images of a crow, crane, and a crab to signal which team I am calling. This way the children

can visualize what I am saying besides just hearing it. These visual cues can help the children

be more attentive.
