ABSTRACT

Title: ENHANCING THE PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 9 ICT STUDENTS OF

MANGALDAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN PC ASSEMBLY AND

DISASSEMBLY USING VIDEO AS SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTIONAL

MATERIAL

Researcher: ALVIN A. ULALAN

Course: Master in Education Major in TLE

Name of Institution: Lyceum Northwestern University

Dagupan City

The study aimed to enhance the performance of grade 9 ICT students of

Mangaldan National High School in PC assembly and disassembly using video as

supplemental instructional material. The respondents were the students of section

Jasmine of the grade 9 regular class of the Mangaldan National High School, School Year

2017 2018.

The results of pretest and posttest of the students were compared and analyzed,

then the t-test of the scores were computed. Based from the t-test result, there is a

significant difference on the level of performance of grade 9 ICT students before and after

the use of video as supplemental instructional material. Thus, the use of video in teaching

the steps in PC assembly and disassembly helped students increase their level of

performance. Moreover, the supplemental instructional material used by the researcher

was found to be more effective than the traditional method. The students showed great

iii
improvement as evident on their performance task in following the proper steps in PC

assembly and disassembly.

The researcher highly recommends the use of video as supplemental instructional

material in teaching lessons in the TLE subject particularly those that require students to

follow certain procedures. Likewise, these video materials can help provide students with

a learning experience that is fun and enjoyable hence, may encourage them to learn more

and be active in class.
