TCS campus recruitment process has four rounds Written, Technical Round (TR),
Management Round (MR) and HR. TCS team from Hyderabad with 25 members has
done all the rounds. First we had a presentation about Tata services, TCS, its performance
as Nation’s top IT service provider. It has its clients all over the world; major numbers of
its clients are in Fortune 500. TCS vision is “To be among TOP 10 companies in world”.

Presentation and Written test were held on First day. Written test was easy, mostly quant
from RS Agarwal, Verbal and Compositions from GRE barrons 12th edition. On second
day we had remaining three rounds.20 panels were set for selection process with may be
2 rejection panels in it( Panel totally depends on luck, you have to try hard to get through
rejection panel). Among the three rounds, few had combined rounds like MR and HR or
TR and MR. Some had TR and MR combined.

Interviewer was cool looking, he made me relaxed before the round asked few personal
details like name, place of stay and about the college. He gave a smile and started…..

Interviewer: Tell me about yourself?

Me: Im aarief and doing my engineering in ECE stream, Im from Vijayawada and got 95
percent in HSC and 87% in SSC. Im hard working and kinda tenacious for work
completion assigned to me, I am result oriented guy looking fr best results. This I have
observed and learned from my father whoz a BSNL employee. Im also friendly and with
lot of patience, I learned this frm my mother, whoz a Homemaker…..

Interviewer: kk.. Starting with technical…what subjects are you interested in?
Me: EDC, Communication systems sir

Interviewer: Then tell me about Transistor and its baising regions?

Me: I explained about transistor its 3 baising regions and characteristics of each of it
states.

Interviewer: Tell me about Amplitude modulation?

Me:I told everything I know about AM….

Interviewer: Difference between AM and FM??

Me: This, I took a long time 2 explain(15mins), I explained about various frequency
ranges for AM nd FM, its commercial usage, different techniques……

Interviewer: Tell about GITAM for 5 mins?

Me: I got stuck for 5 secs, due to sudden change of topic, I tried to tell about its vision,
about students, campus and its facilities and the environment of GITAM and its
surroundings….

Interviewer: Tell me about your academics, reason for getting low percentage in BE than
HSC?

Me: Explained about EAMCET, easy subjects in HSC, comparatively application

oriented subjects in BE,… He was convinced by the answer..

Interviewer: (Checked my resume) you play Badminton, Are you a pro or just a hobby?
Tell me 6 differences between singles and doubles of the game?

Me: I explained all the game rules for singles and doubles,.. he was keenly observing me I
always used my hands and face expressions to convey the correct meaning and what
answer I intended to give him..

TR and HR round went on for about half an hour, Interviewer was very convinced by my
answers and my appearance, he smiled at me amd told to wait for the results…After 20
min, I was told to prepare for final round HR.
HR:

HR team was the coolest, they were friendly and talkative,... My HR interviewer was a
lady, She was cool and gud looking, she introduced herself and told to take my seat, I
gave a smile and looked confident,.

Interviewer: How did ur day go? How were the other two rounds?

Me: Im aarief ma’am, my day went cool ma’am. TR and MR were a bit intense, glad I
cleared it,..

Interviewer: Tell me a weakness in you?

Me: I prepared for all such common questions,.. Told im was bit ambiguous in taking
decisions..I mean I was bit unconfident of whatever decision I took,..But know I can
manage it ma’am

Interviewer: Have you gone through TCS website? Tell your best comment about the
company?

Me: Yes ma’am, I’ve gone through it, I was attracted about the companys vision about it
trying to be among the TOP 10 of the world, I was interested in sentence “TCS gives
importance to three main qualities INNOVATION, HARD WORK, PERFECTION”, in
which I am confident that I possess such qualities,..and also that TCS gives importance to
the Family values and helps its Employees for their Career development.

Interviewer: Why should we hire you?

Me: As I have said ma’am, I want to be identified for whatever work I hav done, assigned
to me,.. I am sure TCS has that attitude towards its employees,..Im hard working and
result oriented,…..

Interviewer: What should an Organization have for its success?

Me: The main reason for an Organization to be successful is GOAL. Keeping it in mind it
can move ahead, Most important are the Members of the organization who can follow
rules for its progress and innovate others regarding the goal.
Interviewer: Do u hav any ideas of Further Education?

Me: Yes ma’am, I am interested in Management, I want to complete my MBA after 2 or 3

years experience in TCS and serve for company, I want to be a member of Strategic team.

Interviewer: Do u hav any questions?

Me: I asked her about the projects and their duration; how employees are assigned for a
particular project; How will be procedure for employees further education

Interviewer told me about the bond and the training program in TCS, she told me to wait
till the results are announced , we waited for 3 hours and announced according to our
hallticket no.s. I was selected & was happy……ALL THE BEST

Me: I explained to her about them.

Me: As it was cakewalk to me... I explained about blogging and about my blog.. And
latest topics I posted in my blog …

INTERVIEWER: what are the different modes of operation of a transistor?

Me: explained about them clearly...

INTERVIEWER: As I placed ‘C’ is software strength … she had given me the choice
to opt any topic in the C…

Me: I opted pointes and structures..

INTERVIEWER: Explain about them…

Me: Explained confidently with examples …

INTERVIEWER: Draw the microprocessor architecture …

Me: Depicted clearly ….

INTERVIEWER: What is ur favorite subject?

Me: Digital and analogue communications…

Me: I covered all the basics in the communications ... explained about AM and FM with
the commercial examples … it had taken 15 min … as I explained confidently … I hope
she was impressed with my answers…

INTERVIEWER: Explain about ur project?

Me: explained clearly by drawing its circuit …

INTERVIEWER: Thank you….

Total round went around 30 – 35 mins… well nothing to worry about this round
… If you are not having grip in your subjects … don’t worry about it … choose one
subject which feels you more free … and prepare fundamental basics in it …… There
would be 50% elimination in this round …

SECOND ROUND - MANAGEMENT ROUND

INTERVIEWER: tell me about ur self

Me: I had repeated the same one as in tech round…

INTERVIEWER: How is your yesterday?

Me: Good going sir…. But felt little bit tense sir …

INTERVIEWER: what are ur latest projects?

Me: explained him in detail.

INTERVIEWER: which topics will you post at your blog?

Me: given the answer.

INTERVIEWER: well... What’s ur position in your class?

Me: given the answer…

INTERVIEWER: why it is not up to the mark?

Me: well sir blogging is my hobby … due to it I used to concentrate on it for a more
period of time...

Me: I am interested at the communication field sir…

Me: given the answer...

INTERVIEWER: you will be having 18 months bond with us… is it fair for you?

Me: responded positively…

 Management round test’s your confidence levels and reviews your problem
solving capability... It went around 20-25 min for me… So be cool … there would be
40% elimination in this round …

FINAL ROUND – H.R ROUND

INTERVIEWER: What’s up Mr.Bharath?

Me: Introduced myself and told about my family background and my hobbies…

INTERVIEWER: What is your latest post in your blog?

Me: I had shown the hardcopy of my latest one… He inquired me about some doubts in
that one… I explained about them…

INTERVIEWER: What’s ur position at your class?

Me: Around 20 sir….

INTERVIEWER: you are college topper at your intermediate education … why can’t
you maintain the same position now?

Me: explained the reasons for my diminution…

INTERVIEWER: Express your views about “Modern Independence”…. (More than 5

min)…

Me: I compared common man’s life before independence with present … I concentrated
mainly on the Inflation rate … Reasons for its increment… and explained him about
some points regarding “how to control it”… I also concentrated the role of IT and MNC’s
in reducing the inflation rate … (By using public transport system and use non lubricant
vehicles like battery cars and cycle)… whole discussion went around 10 mins… I felt that
he was satisfied with my presents…

INTERVIEWER: How is present growth of IT industry?

Me: I concentrated on the unstable dollar … Made him to feel about Indian clients…

INTERVIEWER: Why TCS?

Me: Well TCS plays the major role in the INDIAN economy … (It produces the
components from needles to the Big containers)… coming to TCS it was awarded best
Tata company… and it was awarded Best Consultancy company by NASSCOM… & it is
BEST ASIAN group…

Presentation skill & communication skills… elimination in this round is less than 10%...

should modulation be done after sampling or sampling,after modulation?? Can we do
sampling for video also or is it for audio only??

only to fun 1..why??

ME:bcoz in memory, the type of organization carried out is stack organization.i.e

leader.it has 2 technically strong people+2 hard workers+1 creative guy+1 moderate
fellow.ur a senior.u’ve to complete it in 3 months.then its given to client.he uses it for a
week to check defects..in this one week, more errors are noticed than before or after.in
these 3 diff periods(project,defects,remaining),how will u use them,alloting 2 people for
each period.(i.e which pair do u select for a particular period to get better results??).

suppose u are working for tcs in hyderabad and within 2 days ur sister
marriage is there .but government requested tcs to solve one problem which must be
secure ,so tcs wants to send some candidates to delhi today .to solve that and those
candidates wil not be given any holidays but their work wil be considered so that their
growth is assured.and ur one in those selected candidates that wat wil u do? either u
attend ur sister marriage by rejecting companys offer or accept that offer and go to delhi
leaving sister marriage aside?

The selection process consists of 2 rounds:

1.WRITTEN TEST:
It consists of three sections which are quantative analysis:This consists of 40 ques. of
which 20 r verbal and 20 r aptitude.Time for this is 20 min. Time will not be sufficient
for aptitude section and u have to be really quick, Verbal will be of GRE level so Barrons
will do.
Next section is a technical section in which 20 ques. r given based on 'C'.I felt this section
is very tough n this requires intense preparation from ur side and time for this section is
30 min.

The final section is writing skills test for 10 min. in which we have to write an essay on
any given topic.My topic is"Greatest Moment In My Life". They evaluate u based on ur
vocabulary usage in this section.Dont neglect this section as this plays a lead role in ur
final selection.

2.INTERVIEW:
This consits of three stages
1: Technical intrvw: They will u grill u like anything on 'C' language.For me it was a cake
walk as they asked only some basic programs to write,but for my friends it was very
tough that they asked even on 'C' Graphics.

2. Logical intrvw: In this round they will test ur problem solving ability. For me they
asked me to design a system which counts the number of people coming to the office at
different times say before 9'0clock ,in between 9 and 10, and after 10'clock using either
an electrical,electronics, mechanical systems or any computer language.I have solved
this using a 'C' program and a card reader.

3.Hr intrvw: It was not actually a HR intrvw,but a stress intrvw. They really put u under
enormous stress and assess u based on ur behaviour under stress.
