graft and corruption in gov-
ernment, fighting the drug

MONTHLY PENSION: Future
pensioners of the Social Security
System (SSS) who contributed for at
least three decades would nearly double
their benefits in 2026 from the current
monthly maximum pension of P10,
900 once the pension funds proposed
reform measure is passed into law.

The estimate is based on higher
monthly salary credit (MSC) or the

members. Aside from higher monthly
pension, benefits such as maternity,
sickness, and funeral received by the
member will increase once the reform
agenda is implemented as these are

riculture staged the award-
ing ceremonies of the 2017

Quality and Rural Women
Achievers on Tuesday (Oct.
17), at the Avenue Plaza Hotel.

SSS cites higher benefits from

State-run Social Security
System (SSS) on Wednesday
said the estimated monthly
pension of a member with
at least 30 paying years will
increase to P20,300 from the
current maximum pension of
P10,900 by 2026, if the cov-
erable income increases to
P30,000 in five years as part of
its proposed reform agenda.
Similarly, benefits such as
maternity, sickness, and fu-
neral, which are also computed
based on the monthly salary
credit (MSC), will also increase
once the reform agenda is im-
plemented.
SSS President and Chief
Executive Officer Emmanuel
F. Dooc said the success of the
proposed SS Reform Act of
2017, which is currently being
deliberated at the committee
level in the Senate, will im-
prove the benefits for members
and pensioners.
The estimated pension
could increase to as much as
P20,300 by 2026. As we have
proposed earlier, the adjust-
ment in MSC should increase
gradually every year to P20,000
next year, to P25,000 in 2020,

sultative Meeting conducted by
the Provincial Tourism Office at
Kemji Resort & Restaurant last
Sept. 11.
The meeting was graced by
no less than the newly-appointed
regional director of the Depart-
ment of Tourism, Benjamin San-
tiago, who had arrived two days
earlier and visited eco-tourism
destinations in the 11 towns.
Vice Gov. Abundo, welcom-
ing the participants, noted that
the investments made by the
province in tourism development
in past years have gained ground
and the community is now reap-
ing the fruits of its labor as mani-
fested by the rapid increase in
tourist arrivals.
In his message, Gov. Cua
bared that from 2016 to the first
half of 2017, there has been a
noticeable influx of tourists af-
ter Catanduanes was featured
in print media, various travel
blogs, and TV shows, giving
credence to the selection of the
island as among the potential
tourist destinations by the Phil-
ippine Travel Agency Associa-
tion (PTAA).
Tourist arrivals have been
exceptionally high, Cua stated,

rivals rose to 199,997 in 2016,
higher by 12.52 percent than the
2015 figures. Of this number,
193,325 were domestic tourists
while 6,672 were foreign, most-

mestic and 3,457 foreign.

ASAN). The capital town of
Virac will serve as a stand-alone
circuit and primary tourism gate-
way.
PBM Angeles said the pro-
posal is based on Sec. 13 of the
1987 Constitution and Sec. 33
of the Local Government Code
of 1991 stating that LGUs may
consolidate resources, services,
and efforts for common purpose.
Among the advantages of the
alliance, the board member said,
include shared institutional com-
mitments in tourism industry
development, open sharing and
bench marking of technical kno-

cient implementation of tourism
programs through group effort,
consolidation ofresources and
services for area-based tourism
projects, reduction of unneces-
sary duplication and competition,
greater counterpart equity in ac-
cessing bigger support projects
for tourism infrastructures, and

among alliance members.
The alliance will also give
Catanduanes a bigger chance to
access tourism grants and outside
development assistance (ODA),

sive Automotive Resurgence
Strategy (CARS) Program,

line with the 10 point socio-
economic agenda of Presi-
dent Duterte, developing the
Philippines into a regional
automotive hub, assisting
MSMEs to grow, and even-
tually generate more job
opportunities for those at
the bottom of the Pyramid,
said Sec. Lopez.
To further push the auto-
motive industrys resurgence,
DTI decided to shift the unsub-

al offices to distribute them
without the monetary coun-
terpart from the recipients.
This year, however, Secretary
Piol completely removed the
farmers equity. Thus, Direc-
tor delos Santos urged the
farmers to give prime impor-
tance to care and maintenance
and implement measures so
that all members may enjoy
the services of the equipment
and machineries. She adds,
however, that the no equity
scheme may only be tempo-
rary as it is not sustainable for
the government to continu-
ously provide these machiner-
ies as dole out.
