Additional Resources for Teaching and Using ICT

I have chosen the Sphero as an additional resource as it is a robot that students can program. Using
the Sphero involves coding, robotics and technology, incorporating STEM into the lessons. Students
use an IPad to program the Sphero and then watch as it moves according to their instructions.

The following website provides lesson plans, ideas and information for teachers on how to use the
Sphero, teachers are able to adapt the ideas and incorporate them into their units.

Bee-Bots are programmable robots; they are used to enhance young students coding skills. Students
learn how to estimate, problem solve, while having fun using the Bee-Bots. Students are able to use
the buttons on the bee-bots to program their movement. There are many existing lesson plans and
ideas to assist teachers to integrate the Bee-bots into their learning units. The following link show an
example of what can be achieved incorporating the Bee-bots into the classroom.

National Lending Library

CSER Digital Technologies Education is a National Lending Library Program where schools that cant
afford the new technology can borrow Sphero and Bee Bot kits to use in their classrooms.

Code.org

Code.org provides free computer science lessons aimed at students in foundation up to year 12.
There are 15 lessons provided in the first unit that teaches students how to create programs,
programing concepts and how to develop interactive games and stories. I have used this program
with foundation students and was impressed with the quality of the lesson and impressed with how
much fun the students were having while learning to code.
