Subject : Introduction of Compact radiator, single bearing alternator and rubber AVM arrangement
on VTA28-G5-I powering 625 KVA Genset.
FESN : 25296740 VTA28-G5-I 625 KVA (SO 35164)
Background :
As a product improvement, CIL is introducing the compact radiator along with single bearing alternator. While
doing so, rubber AVM arrangement is also introduced. Further, CPCB noise regulations are also effective from
01.01.2005. As such all gensets sold after 01.01.2005 needs to be in acoustics enclosure. This will reduce total
genset envelop size as follows :
AVMs :
Rubber type AVM arrangement is introduced in this application. i.e AVMs in between engine and the sub-base.
Three different types of AVMs are used depending upon the load. Since, AVMs are introduced in between engine
and sub-base, in order to take care of relative movement between engine and radiator hoses are introduced in
place of pipe couplings.
Note :
Since AVMs are used in between engine / alternator and base rail, genset may roll during start-up,
stop and during load variation. This is normal phenomenon and should not lead to any issues.
There is no need to use additional AVMs below the base rail.
With Rubber type AVM arrangement, use of hoses in the cooling system is a must.
The AVMs should be used as specified below only. Inter-changing the AVMs may cause excessive
vibration.
In the compact radiator, we have changed the fan drive arrangement from radiator mounted fan to engine mounted
fan. The photograph shows radiator and the fan drive arrangement.
HE cooled 625 KVA genset is currently with double bearing arrangement. Changeover to single bearing with AVM
will be communicated to you subsequently.
