Challenge
One goal involved modeling the development pathway from the planned P&IDs to the 3D-
Piping and creating isometric drawings. Client-specific, non- standardized components
also had to be integrated in the active design.

Solution
Component lists and BoMs can be gene-rated with Smap3D P&ID at every point during
the course of the project. This enables fast and error-free creation of valuable component
BoMs for purchasing. Data from P&ID are automatically trans-ferred into Smap3D Piping.
This way, Plan-eta can also automatically check whether the process engineering and
pipeline design match or deviate from one another.

By actively linking P&ID and 3D design in conjunction with the system's internal error
correction, we were able to place our design focus even more on optimizing system
efficiency and user friendliness. The result was exemplary drawings, which the globally
operating and highly experienced client said they had never seen at this level of precision."

Challenge
Find a solution to help us quickly and accurately design piping
assemblies for our fabricated skids, while also allowing for inclusion
of vendor supplied parts.

Solution
Establish a workflow that will facilitate quick generation of 3D piping
production drawings and easy integration of vendor supplied parts
into our design model via Smap 3D P&ID and Piping.

In the few short weeks that I have used Smap3D Piping I have noticed
a significant improvement in the time it is taking to draw one of our
fabricated skids. Smap3D's Pipe Class Specification and Partfinder
modules have allowed me to easily add correct piping and vendor
supplied parts to my database for a truly complete 3D production

Until now, we had to create the P&ID parts and components lists
manually and reenter this information in the 3D CAD system. This
cumbersome process not only took time, but also led to errors which in
turn resulted in costs.

Solution
With Smap3D Plant Design we have found a system that can create the
parts and components list at the touch of a button and is always up to
date. As a design office, we can use Smap3D Plant Design for all of our
clients from many different indus-tries, even for the design of
ventilation shafts.

Zeppelin Power Systems is now working with master modules which are always
built the same way and in which all the components are merged. Feeko Harders
(Construction Manager for Zeppelin Power Systems) also views this as a
management tool:

SOLIDWORKS and Smap3D Plant Design models are merged in the master
structure and we can see the exact status of the different assemblies and where
collisions occur. Of course, once in a while a pipeline is askew in the space, but
then we have even better insight about what needs to be done. The project
completion time and the delivery time has been significantly reduced through
the networking of projects and the parallel work of several colleagues at the
