sacred because the human person has been willed for its own in the B1.1: Identifies that Jesus loved little children.
image and likeness of the living and holy God Catechism 2319).
Gods son, whose name is Jesus, taught us that everyone is special.
He did so by the stories he told and by the kind things he did to
many people.
Among all the people he met, Jesus loved children in a special way.
One day people brought some little children to Jesus. His disciples
scolded the people and told them to go away. Jesus, however, told
the disciples to let the little children come to him and he blessed
them (Mark 10:13-16).

Conclusion

Three Mins 1. Students are asked to return to the mat.

2. The significance of Jesus and the Little Children is re-emphasised. Jesus was upset that
the Disciples blocked him from seeing the little children because Jesus loved everyone
equally, no matter who they were. By taking the time to bless all of the children, Jesus
showed that everyone is special. (This message enables for children to come to terms with
the religious capability of hope as the story allows for them to find joy within Gods
kindness).

To belong is very important to all of us. We love to feel loved and special. The story that we are going to be looking at today is called Jesus and
the Little Children. It is from the chapter Mark. This story tells of Jesus welcoming and blessing little children.

Place Jesus in the middle with the two disciples.

Jesus is talking to his friends, the disciples. The people of the village brought their children to Jesus.

The parents and children are placed on the green cloth.

The parents of the children wanted for Jesus to bless their children.

Move parents and children towards Jesus

Jesus disciples said that Jesus was too busy and began to send the children away.

Move the disciples so that they are standing in front of Jesus, blocking him.
Jesus saw that the disciples were not letting the children come to him and he was disappointed with them and upset also.

Move Jesus in-between where the disciples are standing.

Let the little children come to me and do not stop them! Because Gods kingdom belongs to people who are just like them.

Place children so that they are gathering around Jesus.

Carrie English Special Me: Pre Primary Step B

Jesus said to the adults that they needed to be more like children; learning to trust God just like a child has to trust their mother or father. Then
they would shine to Gods love.

The right hand is gently placed on each childs head as it is symbolic of the blessing.
Jesus then welcomed all the children into his arms and he hugged them. He blessed them; they knew that Jesus loved them because Gods
love was shining in them.

Wonder Questions

-I wonder how it makes you feel when adults send you away from them. Do you feel sad or angry?
-I wonder why did Jesus want to spend time with the little children and bless them.
-I wonder what you think Jesus was talking about when he said to the adults that they need to be more like the children.
-I wonder how did the children feel when they were blessed and hugged by Jesus. Did they feel happy? Did they feel special?
-I wonder if you met Jesus and he blessed you what would you say to him.
-I wonder if you think that children deserve to be blessed just as much as adults.
-I wonder why this story is such a special one. Does it teach us that Jesus loved us all equally?
