SUMMARY
The present study aimed to discuss and enumerate the relationships between
learning and development proposed by Lev Vygotsky contained primarily in his work
"Learning and Development in School Age." To this end, we list and comment the
three categories of theories that sought to examine the issue of the relationship
between learning and development, namely: Piagetian theory, the theory advocated
by W.James first and third known as Gestalt theory. This paper proposes that
Vygotsky forget these three categories mentioned above and another that seeks to
better solve the problem, then we have the author's presentation of ideas that revolve
around learning and development of general and specific characteristics of this
relationship. From there we present the levels of development known as the level of
actual development and potential development area. Finally based on the allegations
and claims of Vygotsky quoted what the function of the school that seeks to enhance
development and learning of school children.
