the classroom in order to play a game.

Assessment: what will be assessed and how
While Sts identify and produce the different weather conditions, I will be assessing them. This will be done in
different stages of the class, eg. While listening to the song or playing the different games.

Stages in the lesson

Each stage or activity must be described in terms of the following items:

Purpose
Timing
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to students
(include direct speech, and students possible answers).
Teaching strategies (description, explanation, demonstration,
modelling, exemplification, etc.)
Strategies to check understanding of instructions
Strategies to check new language comprehension

Mandatory lesson stages:

Routine: 5 Purpose: Get Sts ready to start working.

Before getting into the classroom, Ill open the door a little bit and show a part of my puppet. With a different
voice, I pretend to be the puppet and greet them. hello children!!! How are you today? When they greet the
puppet, we go into the classroom and I introduce my friend Mr Puppet. I tell them that the st who works Commented [A2]: Same routine you used with Kinder 4.
best that day will take the puppet home as a reward for a day. So the following class, he/she will have to bring
it back and another st can take it home. The idea is to motivate sts to work hard in class and behave properly.

T: hello everyone, how are you today? Do you like my friend Mr Puppet? He can go home with you today,
you only need to work properly and enthusiastically. Ok. Its time to work! Lets teach Mr Puppet the HELLO
SONG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN1Cyr0ZK9M . (This is their routine song so everybody sings the
song in order to teach it to Mr Puppet).
Transition. Lets see what he has brought for you today.

- Lead-in or Warm-up
Warm up: 5 Purpose: To introduce the topic and the teaching points

I open the puppets bag and take out an envelope full of holes, inside there is a picture of the
WEATHER which is the topic of the class and the idea is that sts can guess the topic while playing this
game.

T: Look! Mr Puppet has brought you this. Do you know what it is? (Spanish answers will be Commented [A3]: Same comment I made in the lesson plan for
accepted) Kinder 4.
Commented [A4]: Elicit words in L2, not in L1, pls.
I elicit from them that its an envelope.

T: do you know what he has inside the envelope? Do you want to know? Ok. Lets sit on the floor
and make a big circle. Great, now I will show you the envelope and you need to peep in order to see
what is inside it and guess the topic of todays lesson.

I walk around the class showing the sts the envelope and accepting their predictions and repeat them
aloud. Commented [A5]: OK.
Commented [A6]: Think of a different activity/strategy. You

Commented [hp7]: I will leave this activity for this course. I
are going to describe the weather today. Do you remember the words that you learnt with Ms have already changed the activity in the other course.
Brianda last class? Lets check.

- Presentation
Presentation. 10 Purpose: To expose sts to the target language, to foster comprehension of a very simple song.
Task 1. T: Now, lets see, do you remember The Weather Song that you learnt with Brianda?(their teacher
presented the song last class) Can you identify the different types of weather in the song? Whenever you
listen to a weather word, you need to stand up. (sts will watch the video sat on the floor) Commented [A8]: You suggested the same activity in Kinder 4.
Transition. You did a great job! We will continue working with the weather. What else could you do?
Commented [hp9]: I will leave this activity. I have already
Task 2. T: Now, lets practisce a little more. (Sts will be provided with pictures of different weather, each changed the one in the other course.
picture will be in a different table, there are 4 different pictures).
I will say: ITS SUNNY TODAY. (I will draw with my hand a sun on the air) and I will expect that the children
who have the picture of the sun on their table can bring it to me. When they bring me the right picture, I
will ask them: HOWS THE WEATHER TODAY? Expecting to elicit from them: ITS SUNNY.
I will do the same with the other weather cards until all of them are stuck on the walls of the classroom.
I will always use my body to help them pick up the correct picture.

Transition. Now that you know all the words to describe the weather, we can play SIMON SAYS.
- Development = 10
Activity 1: Purpose: To identify alone, the different weather types.

Mr Puppet Says. (5)

I will explain the game to the sts in order to play it.
Instructions. Whenever I say MR PUPPET SAYS ITS SUNNY, you have to mime the weather but if I dont
mention MR PUPPET, you have to sit down on the floor.
We will play it once, in order to demonstrate when they have to mime the weather and they dont. Then
they will be ready to play.
Transition. Well done! Now you are ready to describe the weather.

Activity 2: Purpose: To identify the different weather type and pronounce it.

The Weather Game.

Using the weather pictures pasted in the previous activity around the classroom, they have to recognize the
different type of weather while listening to the song again and playing a game. When they listen to the
weather type, they have to move to the side of the classroom that they can find this type of weather.
To do this activity, I will play the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD6FRDd9Hew by chunks and
stop it after a weather type is mentioned so that they get closer to the right picture.
Instructions. We will listen to The Weather Song and I will stop the music when a weather word is
mentioned. So you need to walk quietly to the part of the classroom where you can find this type of
weather. When everybody is there, I will ask you a question: HOWS THE WEATHER TODAY? The student
that first answers my question will get a point.
Transition. We are getting to the end of the lesson but we want to learn the song to sing it next
class while describing our families.

- Closure
Closure. 10 Song Sts sing the song and practise the language to describe the weather next
class.

Sts will watch the video again and sing the song while using their bodies to draw the right weather in the
air. They will do this in order to practise and describe the weather next class.
These are the song lyrics.

Observations Dear Pat,

This lesson is practically the same as the one you designed for kinder 4. You must
think of different strategies and activities they are two different groups, of
different levels and ages.

The weather game and the weather song (closure stage) are the ones that dont
appear in the other lesson plan and you can surely use.

Resubmit your lesson plan as soon as possible, please.

Best,
Aure

Teacher,
I have changed the plan for the sala de 4, I prefer to leave this one like this because I
have more material to work with the other class. I hope you dont mind.
TKs,
Pat

OK, Pat. I made some comments. Please make sure in the following lessons to plan
completely different activities. Do encourage students to use the target language.
In this lesson, they are mainly exposed to the vocabulary and they do a lot of TPR.
Try to elicit the structures from them as well.
Enjoy the lesson!

sheet of paper and a complete picture will appear. The idea is that different tables will have different
weather words.

They will have a sheet of paper like this, but And after putting glue in the lines of the drawing
already folded in the middle and folding the sheet of paper again, they should
have something like this

Instructions. now, we are going to make our own weather cards so we need to sit at our tables. (Sts will
find coloured glue and a folded sheet of paper with half of a drawing inside) you need to be quiet and
ready to start working. Now you will unfold the sheet of paper and put glue over the lines to discover the

Observations The crafty activity seems to be really nice and appealing! Will everyone be able to
participate? I ask this question because it is a large group.
Hope you could think of another game, instead of using Simon Says, as you are
playing it with Kinder 4. Im positive you will come up with another interesting idea!
You may think of a story, for instance. Come on, Pat! It`s the final countdown!
