    Prof. Peter N. Kalu was granted a 10-month Fulbright scholarship in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Abuja starting September 1, 2009. However, due to a strike by university lecturers in 2009 that disrupted the academic calendar, the academic session was extended into 2010. Therefore, the department head requests a minimum 2-month extension of Prof. Kalu's Fulbright scholarship, until August 31, 2010, to allow him to complete teaching courses for the upcoming 2009/2010 session and present seminar papers for an upcoming department seminar series.

    REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP OF PROF. PETER N.

    Above subject refers.

    Prof. P. N. Kalu commenced his Fulbright scholarship in the Department of Mechanical


    Engineering on the 1st September, 2009, which I learnt will be for a ten-(10)-month
    period. Hence, the programme might end in June, 2010.

    As you are aware the ASUU strike of 2009 affected the 2008/2009 academic calendar
    which led to the spilling over of the session to the year 2010.

    In the light of the above, we wish to request for the extension of his programme by a
    minimum of two (2) months so that it will end on 31 st August, 2010 to enable him
    complete the courses he will be teaching in the forth coming session (2009/2010). Also,
    for him to present his seminar papers in the seminar series which the department is
    proposing to commence soon.
