A legal first for New Jersey

In just less then 24 hours an elementary school in Hackettstown will remain closed for

four weeks due to a fungus issue inside the building. Health officials first arrived on

Thursday to Willow Grove Elementary School in order to conducts tests. According to

the results there were high levels of fungi and spores. The reason for the Fungus was

because of lack of ventilation and high levels of humidity, official said.

Superintendent David Mango confirmed that there were at least 13 classrooms that

needed to be cleaned. Although the students are not in their school for four weeks, the

district is allowing students to attend local schools in the meantime to continue learning.

Parents like Dawn Smith are glad that theyre taking care of this and agrees theyve got a

good plan in place.

New Jerseys first resiliency park opened on Friday in Hoboken. Its a model for green

infrastructure in Hoboken. Its designed to hold 200,000 gallons of storm water runoff. It

has rain gardens, shade tree pits, porous pavers and a cistern for rainwater harvesting and

reuse, as well as an underground detention system to reduce storm water runoff and

essentially flooding. Although the park was designed to alleviate and resist moments of

flooding in the town, it also has some other features. The park has a dog run, moveable

caf tales. A pup-up market zone, multi-level seating for small performances and a lawn

area. The funding for the park came from a Hudson County Open Space grant with

construction financing provided through low interest loan from the NJ Enviornmental

Infrastructure Test.

Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez who was engaged to Patriots football player Aaron

Hernandez filed a lawsuit against the patriots and the NFL. According to the lawsuit

Hernandez was diagnosed with stage III CTE, this is not common at his age 28. Most

typically is seen on 67 year old median age. Therefore, she is suing them stating that NFL

and Patriots were fully aware of the damages and negative impacts on the players and did

not disclose or care to treat them. Also, that it was unsafe for Aaron to play, but they

allowed him to continue anyway. The family is seeking 20 million dollars in damages.

Lawyer Jose Baez representing Hernandez stated that this was the most severe case they

have ever seen in someone of Aarons age.

Londons transportation authority has confirmed on Friday that they will not renew

Ubers license, stating the the company is not fit or proper to operate in the city. This

could potentially affect Ubers business. The reason they wont renew is because of some

recent criminal history and they are concerned for the safety of the people in London. If

the decision is made then this will be putting more then 40,000 licensed drivers out of

work and deprive the London people from an easy and affordable commute. Other

Londoners believe that if there are any issues with Uber then they should work to resolve

the issue and not ban them.

North Korea may test a powerful nuclear weapon over the Pacific Ocean in response to

Donald Trumps threats to military action. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a

comment televised that accused Trump of being mentally deranged This all began

when trump threatened to totally destroy North Korea North Korea could launch a

nuclear missile test in response. Which would mean the strongest hydrogen bomb test

over the Pacific Ocean.

An exciting night for Hockey.

The Pittsburgh Penguins fell one short to the New York Islanders six to five.
The Nashville Predators made it look easy with their win against the Phoenix Coyotes

four to one.

And the Boston Bruins continue their playoff march with a win against the Philadelphia

flyers six to three.

The New Jersey Devils take on the New York Rangers tonight at 7 oclock.

The NBA just finished up their all-star break, and tonight the New York Knicks take on

the Orlando magic.

In local baseball news, New York Yankees hall-of-fame outfielder Bernie Williams was a

no show at Yankees spring training camp on Monday. This comes after many contract

negotiations that have ended in confusion and frustrations the Yankees and Williams

alike. Many long time teammates have made calls to Williams but it seems as though

Williams will not be on the roster this year. Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman
saidIt appears he made his decision. That's all I can take from it. Williams made his

major-league debut with the Yankees in 1991.

Sylvester Stallones Australian hotel room and private jet was searched for illegal

substances, say Australian authorities. This search comes just three days prior to

authorities seizing banned substances when he and his entourage were stopped by

Australian customs officials after a routine X-ray detected something wrong with their

luggage. Authorities detained Stallone and his entourage for what was believed to be a

type of human growth hormone. The outcome is still to be seen; Australians have a no

tolerance policy for any type of illegal drugs, including steroids and performance-

enhancing substances. Stallone was in Australia in support of the Australian premiere of

Rocky Balboa.
