Wewouldliketoinformyouabouttheidentityoftheinsurerandthematerialcontentoftheinsurance
contract(Art.3oftheInsuranceContractAct).

Whoisyourcontractingparty?

The insurer is EUROPISCHE Reiseversicherungs AG (hereinafter referred to as ERV), a stock


corporation under Swiss law, with its registered oce at Margarethenstrasse 38, 4002 Basel. The
management of the product is delegated to Swisscare InsuranceServices(Switzerland)AG,Chemin
deBeaulieu8,1752Villars-sur-GlneinSwitzerland,hereinafterSwisscare.

Whatrisksarecoveredandwhatscopedoestheinsurancecoverhave?

The insurance application, the certicate and the corresponding General InsuranceConditions(GIC)
stipulatetheeventsuponwhoseoccurrenceERVisobligedtomakeapayment.

Whatinsurancebenetsarepaid?

The amount and/or maximum limit and the type of insurance benets can be gathered from the
insurance application, the certicate and the corresponding GIC. The same applies to any
deductiblesorwaitingperiod.

Howhighisthepremiumpayable?

The amount of the premium depends on the insurance cover selected and on the insured risks.
Details of the premium and the statutory duties and fees (e.g. Swiss Federal stamp duty) can be
found in the quote, the insurance application or in the certicate andpremiumnote.Thepremiumis
generally paid once a year. Other types of payment are possible on request, and may involve a
supplement. If the contract is terminated early, Swisscare reimburses the premium not spent in
accordancewiththestatutoryandcontractualprovisions.

Whatotherdutiesdoyou,aspolicyholderhave?

Theessentialdutiesofthepolicyholderincludethefollowing,forexample:

In the event of a claim, it must be reported to ERV immediately, e.g. using the 24-hour
helpline+41(0)446551259.

The policyholder mustcooperateinclaricationsofERV,e.g.inclaricationsintheeventofa
claim(obligationtocooperate).

In the event of a claim, reasonable actions must be taken to mitigate loss (duty to mitigate
loss).

Whendoesyourcontractofinsurancecommenceandend?

The contract commences and ends on the date stated in the insurance application and in the
certicate. If proof of insurance or a provisional cover note was issued, ERV will grant insurance
cover from thedatespeciedthereinuntildeliveryofthecerticate.Aftertheexpirationoftheagreed
contract period, the contract will be tacitly renewed for successive terms of one year unless one of
the contracting parties gives three months prior written notice of termination. If the term of the
contractislessthanoneyear,itterminatesontheexpirydatestatedinthecerticate.

Thecontractmay,amongotherthings,beterminatedprematurelybynoticeofcancellation:

following a loss event forwhichERVhasmadepayments:bythepolicyholderwithin14days
of being notied of the payment; the insurance cover will be terminated 14 days after receipt of
thenoticeofcancellation;

in the event of an increase in the premiums or deductible by Swisscare: bythepolicyholder
at the end of the insurance year, if he does not agree with the revision. Ocially prescribed
adjustments(suchaschangesinthepremiums,thedeductibles,theindemnitylimits,thescopeof
coverorthedutiesandfees)shallbereservedinthecaseofcoverregulatedbylaw.

Whyispersonaldataprocessed,passedonandstored?
Whatpersonaldataisprocessed?

Data acquisition and processing serves the business of insurance transactions, the marketing,
selling, administration, mediation of products and services and risk assessment, as well as the
handlingofinsurancecontractsandanysecondarybusinessassociatedwiththis.

The data is physically and/or electronically acquired, processed, stored and deleted in accordance
with the regulations of the legislator. Data which concernsbusinesscorrespondencemustbestored
for at least 10 years from contract termination and claims data foratleast10yearsaftercompletion
oftheclaim.

In essence, the following data categories are processed: interested parties data, customer data,
contract and claims data, health-related data, data from injured parties and claimants as well as
collectiondata.

ERV is authorised to disclose allthisdatatotheextentrequiredtoco-insurersandreinsurers,ocial


bodies, insurance companies and institutions, central information systems of the insurance
companies, other entities within the group of companies, cooperation partners, hospitals, doctors,
external experts and other involved partiesinSwitzerlandandabroadandtoobtaininformationfrom
all of the above. This authorisation includes, in particular, the physical and/or electronic storage of
data, the use of the data for determining the premium, assessing risk, processing insured events,
combating abuse, preparing statistical evaluations and, within the group of companies, including
cooperation partners, also for marketing purposes, including the creation of client proles for the
purposeofoeringtheapplicantindividualproducts.

Whatfeesarecharged?

Intheeventofremindersanddebtenforcement,Swisscarechargesthefollowingfees:

feeforastatutoryreminderCHF20,

feeforinitiatingdebtenforcement(plusocialenforcementcostsandcourtcosts)CHF50,

fee for the deletion of a debt enforcement CHF 80 (deletion will only be performed if all
outstandingamountshavebeensettled).

Whatelsemustbeobserved?

The actual insurancecontractremainsauthoritativeinanycase.Incaseofdoubtaboutinterpretation


andcontentofalldocumentation,theGermanversionshallprevail.

1. GENERALCONDITIONS

1.1 Basisoftheinsurancecontract

A The underwriter of this insurance is EUROPISCHE Reiseversicherungs AG,
Margarethenstrasse 38, 4002 Basel in Switzerland (hereinafter ERV). ERV undertakes to
provide the insured benets within the framework of the following conditions. The insured
personshallreservetherighttoassertaclaimdirectlyagainstERV.

B ERV has delegated the management of the insurance policies to Swisscare Insurance
Services (Switzerland) AG, Chemin de Beaulieu 8, 1752 Villars-sur-Glne in Switzerland
(hereinafterSwisscare).

C In cases where no variations are stipulated in the particular contract, the contract is
governed by the provisions of the Swiss Federal Law on Insurance Contracts of 2nd April
1908(LCA).

D The proposition of the insurance, the insurance certicate and the general insurance
conditions(GIC)formthebasisoftheinsurancecontract.

1.2 Aimoftheinsurance

A Based on Art. 2.4 of the Ordinance of 27th June 1995 on health insurance(OAMal),theaim
of this insurance is to guarantee to foreign persons living temporarily in Switzerland for
educational purposes, insurance cover for sickness, accident and pregnancy. This is based
onthebenetsoftheFederalLawonHealthInsuranceof18thMarch1994(LAMal).

B These benets are supplemented by the complementary insurance coverage according to
Art.3.1to3.7ofthepresentgeneralinsuranceconditions(GIC).

1.3 Insuredperson

A Thepersonmentionedintheinsurancecerticateisconsideredtheinsuredperson.

B Foreign persons living temporarilyinSwitzerlandforeducationalpurposesandwhohavenot
yet reached their 45th birthday may apply for the health insurance, provided that a Swiss
state insurance is not compulsory for them or that they are exempt from the insurance
requirementundertheFederalLawonHealthInsurance(LAMal).

1.4 Extentoftheinsurance

A TheinsuranceisvalidinSwitzerland.

B Whilst outside of Switzerland, the insurance provides coverage in cases of emergency only
and for a maximum of twice the cost of the same treatment in the canton of residence in
Switzerland.

C An emergency is any unplanned medical treatment where it is necessary for an immediate
interventionandwherebytheinsuredcouldnotwaittoreturntoSwitzerland.

D In cases of sickness or accidentoccurringinSwitzerlandandwherebytheinsuredwishesto
seek treatment abroad, the attending physician or hospital are obligedtosendarequestfor
coverage of medical costs to ERV. Voluntary treatments abroad, without ERVs consent,will
notbecovered.

1.5 Policyduration,renewalandtermination

A The insurance coverage begins on the start date mentionedontheinsurancecerticateand
on the dayofentrytoSwitzerlandattheearliest.Thedurationoftheinsurancecontractisup
to 31st December every year and is automatically renewed for another calendar year (1st
January to 31st December). The maximumdurationofthecontractisinaccordancewiththe
delivered exemption of the compulsory health insurance in compliance with OAMal Art. 2.4
bythecantonalauthorities.

B After 12 months, the insured is entitled to cancel so long as three months notice are given
before the end of the calendar year. The cancellation requestmustbesignedbytheinsured
andsentinawrittennotice(registeredletterisrecommended).

C The insurance contract will be cancelled at the end of the month in the case where the
insured:

hascompletedhiseducationoradvancedtraininginSwitzerland,
haspermanentlyleftSwitzerland(dateofdeparture),
hasmovedhisresidenceoutofSwitzerland,
doesnolongermeetthecantonalregulationrequirements,
isrequiredtotakeaSwissLAMalinsurance,
ismarriedtoaSwisscitizen(dateofmarriagecerticate),
hasobtainedtheresidencepermitC(dateofpermit),
hasreachedhis45thbirthday.

1.6 Paymentandchangeofthepremium

A The insured pays his premium in advance for an annual duration. By special agreement,
thispremiumcanalsobepaidinmonthly,quarterlyorhalf-yearlyinstalments.

B Thepremiummustbepaidforthecalendarmonthinfull.

C Premiums aredueforpaymentaccordingtothedatespeciedontheinvoice.Ifthepremium
is not paid on the respective due date, Swisscare sends the policyholder, at his own
expense, a writtenremindercallinguponhimtomakepaymentwithin15daysonpainofthe
consequences of failing to do so. If thisreminderhasnoeect,ERVceasestobeonriskfor
damage which occurred from the expiryoftheperiodofgraceuntilthepremiumshavebeen
paidinfull.

D Intheeventofremindersanddebtenforcement,Swisscarechargesthefollowingfees:

statutoryreminderCHF20,
initiatingdebtenforcement(plusocialenforcementcostsandcourtcosts)CHF50,
deletion of a debt enforcementCHF80(deletionwillonlybeperformedifalloutstanding
amountshavebeensettled).

E At the start of a new calendar year, Swisscare may adjust the premiums, deductibles and
shares on the basis of the trend of costs and claims and to complywithanychangesinthe
law.

F Swisscare must inform the insured of the new provisions of the insurance contract no later
than 30 days before the end of the current calendar year.Inthiscase,theinsuredisentitled
to give notice to terminate the insurance contract at the end of the current calendar year.
Notice must be given in writing to reach Swisscare no later than on 31.12. (date as
postmarked).

G If the insurance contract is not cancelled within this deadline, the new premiums,
deductibles,sharesorconditionswillbeconsideredasacceptedbytheinsurance.



1.7 Obligationsoftheinsured

A The insured must take all steps before and after the case of claim which can help avert or
mitigatetheconsequencesandelucidatethecircumstancesofthelossordamage.

B When the insured wishes to make aclaimformedicalcosts,hemustprovidealldocuments,
reports, medical certicates, bills and receipts (non-exhaustive) and the account details
(IBANofbankorpostoceaccount)toERV.

C Changes in address, residence permit status, marital status or cases of death must be
announced to Swisscare within 30 days. Contrary provisions are reserved. In cases of
latenessoromission,Swisscarereservestherighttoclaimbackanyexpensesincurred.

D If the insured is leaving Switzerland permanently, he must notify Swisscare in advance and
provide a conrmation of departure issued by the local authority or canton in which he
resides. If the insured fails to so notify, Swisscare is entitled to terminate the insurance as
soon as it becomes aware of thedeparture.Terminationtakeseectattheendofthemonth
in which the notication of departure from Switzerland was given to the appropriate
communaladministrationorcantonalauthority.

E The insured specically authorizes all medical personnel who have treated him during the
illness, accident or on other occasions, to provide the medical specialist at ERV withallthe
information needed by him to assess the consequences of the claim. For this purpose, he
releasesthemfromtheirobligationofprofessionalsecrecy.

F ERV reserves the right to seek, at its own expense, the opinions of doctorsorspecialistsof
its choice to evaluate the state of health or tness forworkoftheinsured.Theinsuredmust
undergo these medical appraisals to determine the diagnosis and clarify his entitlement to
thebenet.

1.8 Benetsprovidedbythirdparties

A The insurance benets of thepresentgeneralinsuranceconditionsaresubsidiarytoallother
foreign social and privateinsurances,inparticularobligatoryforeigncareinsurances.Incase
of double ormultipleinsurances,thebenetsofthepresentgeneralinsuranceconditionsare
subsidiary to the third party insurance. If the general insurance conditions of the third party
insurance also have a subsidiary clause, the rules of double insurance of the Federallawof
2ndApril1908oninsurancecontracts(LCA)willapply.

B Upon the occurrence of the insured event,ERVissubstitutedfortheclaimsoftheinsuredin
an amount equivalent to the benets provided. ERV is not bound by agreements made
betweentheinsuredandtheliablethirdparty.

1.10 Time-barring

Claims under the insurance contract are time-barred two years after the occurrence of the
circumstanceonwhichtheobligationtoprovidebenetsisbased.

1.11 Legalremarks

A The contract is governed exclusively by Swiss Law, in particular by the Federal Law of 2nd
April1908onInsuranceContracts(LCA).

B ThecontractualobligationsaregovernedbySwisslawandinSwissFrancs.

C The person entitled to the payment may exclusively choose his Swiss place ofresidenceor
thedomicileofERV,Basel,asplaceofjurisdiction.

D In case of doubt about interpretation and content of the GIC, the German version shall
prevail.


2. MEDICALCOVER
2.1 Extentanddurationofthebenets

A The insureds have a free choice of doctors and hospitals among the service providers
recognized under LAMal, who areabletoprovidethenecessarycareservicesintheeventof
illness,accidentormaternityinSwitzerland.

B In the event of hospital treatment, ERV pays the costs of a stay in the general ward in
Switzerland.

C The insurance benetsmustbeecient,appropriateandeconomicalinaccordancewithart.

D ERVs obligation to cover medical expenses ceases after the cancellation of the contract.
Thisisalsorelevantforanyon-goingtreatments.Thedateofthetreatmentisdeterminant.

E After the insurance contract has come into force, the insured has the right to the benets.
Thebenetsareguaranteedaccordingtothedateofthetreatment.

2.2 Insurancebenetsanddeductible

A The extent of thebenetsintheeventofillness,accidentandmaternityisdeterminedbythe
Federal Law on Health Insurance of 18th March 1994 (LAMal) and its implementing
provisions,inparticulartheOrdinanceonBenetsinHealthcareInsurance(OPAS).

B The insurance benets do not supplement the compulsoryhealthinsurance(LAMal),butare
providedinlieuofthatsocialinsurance.

C The insurance benets are subject to an annual deductible sum (xed amount per calendar
year).Theannualdeductiblesumisstatedontheinsurancecerticate.

D The dierent benets provided by the STANDARD, COMFORT and PREMIUM product
variantsarelistedinthebenetsoverview.


3. TRAVELCOVER
The maximum insured sums for the following benet components are stated on the
insurancecerticateandinthebenetsoverview.

3.1 Hospitalvisitbyafamilymember

If the insured must stay for more than 7 days in a Swiss hospital, ERV will bear the cost of
one family member for the travel to the sickbed of the insured (ight in the economy
class/medium-pricedhotel).

3.2 Returntohomecountry

A If the insured is unable to continue his studies in Switzerlandbecauseofaseriousillnessor
seriousinjury,ERVwillpaythecostofthereturnjourneytothehomecountryoftheinsured.

B In the event of death of the insured, ERV will pay the costs of returning the con or urn to
thehomecountryoftheinsured.

C OnlyERVsdoctorsdecideonthenecessity,natureandtimingofthesebenets.

3.3 Accidentcapital

A In case of death of the insured person as the result of an accident or within 5 years of an
accident as a consequence thereof, ERV shall pay the sum specied in the insurance
certicate and in the benets overview, namely to those beneciaries specied in the
insurance certicate or, if none are given, to the legal heirs; with the exception of the tax
authorities and the creditors of the estate. Any disability payments already madeasaresult
ofthiscontractaredeductedfromthesuminsuredincaseofdeath.

B In case of disability which is medically diagnosed at the latest within 5 years of the date of
the accident and is100%,ERVshallpaythecapitalspeciedintheinsurancecerticateand
inthebenetsoverview;incaseofpartialdisability,anappropriatepercentagethereof.

D The total loss of use of limbs or organs is equated with loss. For partial loss or only partial
loss of use of limbs, an appropriate lower degree of disability shall apply. If several body
partsareaected,theseverityofthedisability,whichcannotexceed100%,isdeterminedby
addingtheindividualpercentageratestogether.

E If the actual degree of loss is not of the stated combinations, the severity ofthedisabilityis
determined on the basis of a medical diagnosis according to the percentages listed above,
takingintoaccountthecircumstancesoftheinsuredperson.

F If body parts were partially or fully lost or unusable before the accident, the list above shall
beusedasabasisforcalculatingtheseverityofthedisability.

3.4 Glassesandcontactlenses

ERV pays CHF 100 once every 3 years for ground spectacle lensesandcontactlenses.For
this purpose, the insured must undergo a sight test performed by an ophthalmologist or
opticianandproducethesupportingdocumenttoERV.

3.5 Travelprotection

A ERV reimburses the actually incurred cancellation costs (excl. securityfeeandairporttaxes)
if the insured is unable to start the booked travel service as a result of unforeseen severe
illness or severe injury, provided such an occurrence begins after the insurance has been
takenoutandafterthejourneyhasbeenbooked.

B Paymentsareexcluded:

a) if the service provider (travel company, hirer, organiser, etc.) cancels the agreed
serviceorshouldhavecancelledtheserviceforobjectivereasons;
b) if the illness/complaint which gave rise to the annulment is a complication or
consequence of an operation already planned prior to the commencement of
insurancecoverageoratthetimethejourneywasbooked;
c) if an illness or the consequences of an accident, an operation or medical treatment
already exist at the time of booking the trip and have not been resolvedbythetime
ofdeparture;
d) if the medical certicate was not made out as soon as the inability to travel could
havebeenestablished;

e) in the event of cancellation as a result of conditions of fatigue and exhaustion,


nervous,mentalandpsychosomaticdisorders.

C In the event of theft or loss ofapassport,identitycard,drivinglicence,vehiclelogbookand
similar documents, ERV will bear the replacement costs. In order to be entitled to benets
from ERV, the insured person shall seek within 24 hours an ocial investigation at the
nearestpolicestationorobtainareportoftheincident.

3.6 Examprotection

A If the insured is unable to attend the nal examination or test to obtain the intended
certicate as a result of unforeseen severe illness or severe injury, he is given a voucher
equivalent to the examination fee charged, but a maximum of CHF 1.000, to enable him to
retaketheequivalentexaminationataninternationallyrecognisedinstitutionwithinoneyear.

B Not insured are conditions of fatigue and exhaustion, nervous, mental and psychosomatic
disorders.

3.7 24-hhelpline

B The 24-hour helpline will oer advice to you concerning the steps to be taken and it will

C In the event of theft or lossofcreditcardsandmobilephones,the24-hourhelplineprovides
theorganisation(butnotthecost)ofregisteringopposition.

Abroad
AbroadisdeemedtobenotSwitzerlandandnotthehomecountryoftheinsuredperson.

Accident
An accident is a sudden unintended harmful eect ofanunusualexternalfactoronthehumanbody
whichresultsinanimpairmentofthephysical,mentalorpsychologicalhealthordeath.

Cancellationcosts
If the traveller cancels thecontract,thetouroperatorlosestherighttotheagreedtripprice.Hemay,
however, claim reasonable compensation. The level of compensation is based on the trippriceless
the expenses saved by the tour operator and the price he can obtain by using the travel services
elsewhere.

Homecountry
Home country is the country in which the insured person last had his place of residenceincivillaw
orhabitualabodebeforethecommencementoftheinsuredstayinSwitzerland.

Illness
Illness means any impairment of the physical, mental or psychological health which is not a
consequence of an accident and requires a medical examination or treatment or results in
incapacitationfromwork.

Switzerland
For the purposes of territorial limits, Switzerland includes Switzerland and the Principality of
Liechtenstein.

Travelservice
Travel service means, for example, booking air, ship, coach or rail travel, a coach transfer or other
transport to or from the location or locally bookingahotelroom,holidayapartment,mobilehomeor
houseboatorcharteringayacht.
