displaywitharesolutionof640x160pixelsislocatedinthebasicinstrumentpanelundertheround
instruments.Ithasascreendiagonalof5.7".Theroundinstrumentsarealwayssurroundedbya
closedring.

TheF10comesstandardwithBrakeEnergyRegeneration.BrakeEnergyRegenerationtransforms
thevehicleskineticenergyintoelectricity,andusesthispowertochargethebattery.Asaresult,the
batterydrawslesspowerfromtheengine,andfuelconsumptionisreduced.

Thekineticenergyofthevehicleisconvertedintoelectricalenergywhilethevehicleisincoasting
modeorunderbraking.Thebatteryispartiallychargedandthefuelconsumptioncanbereduced.

Theblueindicatorintheinstrumentpanelbelowthetachometer,whichlightsupwheneverkinetic
energyisconvertedintoelectricity(whilecoastingofftheacceleratororunderbraking).Thered
sectionofthedisplaybelowthePisthemilepergallongauge.

detailsorarrowdisplaysfromthenavigationsystemareprojectedontothewindscreenandarethus
permanentlyvisiblewithinthedriver'sfieldofview.

Theheadupdisplay(option610)intheF10containsvariousfunctionsaimedatenhancingroad
safetyanddrivingcomfort.

2.4.NightVision2
TheBMWNightVision2systemprovidesthedriverwithablack-and-whiteimageofthedriving
environmentaheadofthevehicleintheCentralInformationDisplayCID.

BMWNightVision2isa100%passivesystemwithoutactiveinfraredillumination.Objectssituated
aheadofthevehicleareshowninvaryingdegreesofbrightnessdependingontheirtemperature.This
enablesthedrivertodetectingoodtimeheat-emittingobjects,suchaspeople,animalsandother
vehicles.

Thisinformationisrecordedwithafarinfraredcameraviaaspecialimagingsensorwhichdetectsthe
infraredradiationinaspecificwavelengthrange.

Intelligentalgorithmsinthecontrolunitmakesitpossibletoautomaticallydetectpersonsintheimage.
Followingevaluationofdistanceanddirectionofmovement,asymbolonthecentralinformation
displayandinthehead-updisplaywarnsthedriverofanypersonsatrisk.
